ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!
/vent off
Is there NOTHING out there that isn't going to wind up killing the user? If you don't have arthritis, or live with someone who does, like I do, you have NO idea how frustrating this problem can be. Poor Paddy...
*sigh*

1. I sympathize. My dad's honey |
|
just spent $100 on a prescription, the stuff gave her such relief from her arthritis, she's been told there is NO equivalent generic substitute, so now she's up a creek, having to look forward to more pain. Pain vs. heart attack. Great choices.

3. I thought it was only dangerous at very high doses? |
|
Did I miss something? Celebrex literally gave my dad his life back, and it would be devastating if it were pulled off the market. Heck, he'd probably risk the heart attack just to keep using it.

7. I work in clinical data management |
|
While I'm by no means an expert, the 'twice as many heart attacks' could mean that out of 800 subjects, 400 who took it and 400 who didn't, 2 in the Celebrex group had heart attacks and 1 in the control group had it. Those numbers are probably off, but there is no way to know without seeing the actual data about it. Clinical trials are interesting stuff to try to really evaluate which factors are causal and which are just correlated...

5. I Was on Celebrex Two Years Ago |
|
But asked to be put on something else when the first reports came out linking Celebrex to heart attacks. My PCP switched me to Relafen.
In February of this year, I started seeing a pain management specialist for residual pain from my 2000 and 2002 accidents. He took me off Relefen and put me on Bextra. Then a few weeks later I was in ANOTHER accident and the doctor I started seeing for those injuries took me off Bextra and put me on Mobic. From what i understand, Bextra is similar to Vioxx, so I'm glad I'm off it.
There are lots of pain killers out there. No one has to use one that can kill them.

I had a 90 day supply. I dread the pain without it!!!
I was going to have MD to write for celebrex. I have major stomach problems, so I need that type of arthritis medicine. Now there's none left! :scared:
I feel sorry for Paddy, he's so young!

9. Due to those stomach issues I have, I cannot use Celebrex for arthritis. |
|
The thing that I find helps most is Jointritis coupled with magnetic wraps. I know it's probably all in my head with the magnets, but it does bring some relief. I hate this weather most of all.
