when you are attracted to someone for the first time
what do you notice about them first? what first attracts you?

we were talking about this at work, and everyone said something completely different, so a poll won't cut it. just let fly.

1. Shoulders...a guy with nice shoulders.
I am a sucker for broad shoulders and a nice butt. But the shoulders are the first thing I notice.

2. One outstanding characteristic--doesn't have to be looks.
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 06:23 PM by tjdee
Something different about them...
like, with one guy it was the way everyone was dancing, and he wasn't.

With one guy it was that he moved his hands a lot while he was talking.

One guy kept making everyone in his party laugh, and he was sitting on the table.

Etc.

I'll be interested to read the other responses, I think men are more visual than women (of course, women appreciate good looks too)...

6. Eyes, smile, and something indescribable.
I have never been able to 'label' what 'it' is about the men I am attracted to ... it's almost an instinctive, hormonal thing that's a combination of personality, intellect, the way they carry themselves, and 'vibe'.

7. Eyes, smile, height
But sometimes people that are physically attractive quickly become unattractive because of personality and vice versa.

10. Demeanor. The way they carry themselves. No open books.
Mystery. Intrigue. Not looks, looks are secondary. But they certainly don't hurt.

oh, and i have a thing for hands. it's weird. but i do.

after all of that, the person has to intrigue me and make me laugh.

15. Depends on the guy. With some, it's eyes, with others it's smile.
With still others, it's the way they walk, their clothes, or their bod.

20. The eyes make or break the deal.
If I see some guy who is incredibly hot, and we make eye contact, and I can discern no intelligence or basic sentience behind the eyes, suddenly he might as well be the foulest insect in the darkest cave in the deepest jungle, for all that I care. The attraction is gone.

On the other hand, there have been guys who, looks-wise, were really nothing special, or who were downright funny-looking, but when our eyes met, there was something there, some spark. And then, I don't care what they looked like, I was like, va-va-va-voom!

25. His eyes
I have been insanely attracted to only 2 men in my life. Hubby being the most important one and there is another. But both of them had the same effect on me. When our eyes met - I felt it to my toes.

*phew*

Oh yeah a full beard helps too!

Unique faces, expressive faces, faces that may seem common at first then show new beauty after you study them closer. Hair and body and type come after wards for me.

37. Not into looks....love Intelligent men, but . . .
Of course when you first see someone you first notice their appearance, which is one of the problems with today's society. We put a lot of stock in how a person looks. Looks are not all that important to me. As long as the person is neat and clean and seems like a gentlemen I'll delve further and see what makes them tick. I've had my share of prettyboys and those buffed-up dudes and it's nice for a hot minute, but it doesn't last. Give me an intellectual any day. Nothing makes my boat float more than intelligence. Too sexy!
