Congratulate me! I turned 50 yesterday!
....and I ran away from home so my friends wouldn't get a chance to throw one of those horrid surprise parties with the black balloons and wheelchairs with ribbons on them!!!!

So, from my lofty perch as a wise half-century-old Sage (Sagittarius?) 50 was a lot easier than 30! Save for a few hot flashes and how it takes me a lot longer to recover from athletic injuries, it's not a bad age to be.

So, my young whippersnappers: something to look forward to. Keep healthy, don't give your mid-life or golden years to Big Pharma, and you'll sail thru it!

Regards.

Celebrate EVERY DAY.

Welcome to club 50. Wish I would have thought about running away from home so I didn't have to see all those over the hill balloons, after I told them no party.

Happy Birthday

16. Hot flashes
Yikes! Don't look forward to hot flashes. Mine weren't so bad, but friends I know...different story.

Hot flashes hit at very inopportune moments. And wake you up at night sometimes. It's not that you just feel hot - your body sweats big time.

I'm one, too. You can take the girl out of the range, but you can't...

Anyhow, is it cold up there?

Hey, you should check in at the Minnesota state forum.

Welcome.:hi:

23. Brrrrrrrrr
It sure feels cold to me! It's still above zero though. Wait till next month! You LEFT the Range? I deliberately MOVED here. :-)

Thanks for the welcome and I will for sure check out the MN forum. (PS, pardon my ignorance, but is there a way to find out if you get a response to a post, without going back to the original post?) Like, if one forgets?

27. There's a button called "my posts" that will show replies
to your posts made with 24 hours. If you want to watch a thread longer than that you can bookmark it.

Yup, no snow here at all. I know it will come eventually.

After living in the Twin Cities for 17 years I went home and worked remotely for 10 months (or one school year so my daughter could attend school up there). Came back to St. Paul in August.

It was nice being up there again and I needed a break but I'm glad to be back living in St. Paul.

That's what I don't understand. Sorry to be such a Lefsa-head. LOL, I just came up with that one.

Lefsa-head.

Mrs. Olson's lefse is not round. Oofta fida, what can I say....

40. Thanks! katinmn
I think I understand, Thanks for responding and explaining!

I couldn't WAIT to escape the twin cities! I also lived and worked in the TC for many years.

I used to drive from Sherburne County to Golden Valley. Took at least an hour and a half each way.

--------------------

No more traffic, no more commute. I work from home on the iron rage and telecommute to the TC.

26. Snow and cold
Hey, katinmn, I forgot to say we've had a good snowfall that stuck for at least 1-2 weeks. I talked to my sis in the cities who reports no snow there. Is that right?

41 was hard for me, because that felt like there was no turning back now! 50 will be in a couple years, and it feels scary--I was always pretty attached to a young identity.

Or maybe I'll suddenly become well adjusted--you certainly are!!! :toast: Women need good role models for every age, including crone years!!!!!!

I'd like to wack people who give over-the-hill and geritol birthday cards. I think that's pretty mean.

31. oh, all my fellow Sagis
...Y'all know we're born philosophers and sociologists, right? Which is why we're here, questioning everything we're told and refusing to conform! So we tend to pontificate, but that's part of our charm, right?:)

As for all you youngies, my words of wisdom are these: I HAVE no wisdom! I only have 1/2 century of experience--enough to know that there's so much knowledge still waiting for me, I'm gonna need at least another 50 years to absorb it all.

Thanx everyone for the nice b'day wishes. Time's gone by awfully fast, but life's been great so far. I truly believe success is when you find your balance, which is why 50 is easier than 30. At 29, I still had all sorts of expectations, and was miserable that I hadn't lived up to them. Now I understand and appreciate my health and freedom more than any material gain or social prestige.

Cin-Cin! I raise a glass to all of you!

33. I did that 9 years ago, and, believe me ------------
the best is yet to come.

These are, truly, the glory days. I was just telling my best friend today that I can't believe that my fifties - looking at my sixties - would turn out to be my best - healthiest, happiest, and, with a headful of silver hair, able to get away with so much shit, I should have dyed my hair forty years ago, years.

That obsession with youth will kill ya, I swear.

Happy Birthday, Big Pink, and :yourock:
