Doug Stanhope's New DVD

I don't know who's familiar with Doug, he's a stand-up comedian with a mind that won't quit and a sense of humor guaranteed to offend everyone at least once.

I got his DVD, "Deadbeat Hero" from Netflix last night. It's impossible to offend me, but I repeatedly found myself in wide-eyed giggling stupefaction as I watched his routine - I was surprised he was able to say half of the things he said without getting the shit kicked out of him by members of the audience. Doug is tasteless, Doug is offensive, Doug knows no boundaries. On the other hand, Doug makes you proud that there are still a few people in this country who aren't afraid to say exactly what's on their mind.

I recommend only the most open-minded, tolerant folks on DU to add this to their Netflix queue. Doug is proof that comedy ain't pretty.

EDIT EDIT: I just watched the clips on the site, and these are nowhere close to the best bits on the DVD. The second part of the DVD (where he gets political) is some great stuff.
