Mule attacks mountain lion?
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 12:36 AM by GoddessOfGuinness
Snopes says this is unconfirmed, but it sure looks real to me!

"These pics came from a someone's dad in AZ. Yes the mule killed the mountain lion. The lion had been stalking them for the better part of the morning, on the way out to a hunt. They were pretty sure it was after a dog. The cat apparently ambushed them, and the mule pictured tossed its rider and went into attack (defense) mode, the horses scattered and shots were fired but no one was sure if they hit the cat or not. Unfortunately, the battle was decently long, and it wasn't until it was almost over that one of the guys started snapping pics."

2. I'm with you, pansypoo
One Friday night we'd gotten a late start to go camping for the weekend and ended up in the campground after everyone else had gone to bed. We drove around quietly with the headlights low, looking for an empty site. Everything appeared occupied except for one site, off by itself. We parked and turned on the beams for a better look, and up got a puma that had apparently been resting there.

It didn't seem like the first time that that puma had been disturbed in its rest. It walked away with what seemed like tired resignation. How many generations of animal resting places have we taken from them?

The memory of that beautiful, tired animal giving up its place for me still brings tears.

4. There was an article in today's WP
that mentioned mountain lion sightings in Iowa!

With the deer so overpopulated, I'm glad the cats are around. I hope they keep moving east!

7. Did they ever find it?
There was evidence of one in upper Montgomery County several years ago, too. All kinds of he-man macho types were out with traps and such; but I never heard about a catch.

8. Mules are legendary for their toughness.
I wish that our Democratic party leaders were more like their mascot.
