16. I loved organic chemistry
Mainly because I had a prof (RIP Dr. W.) who taught us "more" than just the banal organic chemistry reactions. We talked about synthesizing recreational drugs (why it's so hard to perfect), Spanish fly, artificial pheromones in relation to the reactions we studied.

15. It was the best grade in the class last I checked too
I unfortunely am a week behind because of my cold and my interviewing of a senator today. Really, the teacher has sexual inneduo in his lessons, and it really does help.

18. What's the difference between
DNA Polymerase I and DNA Polymerase III? And which one is used in the formation of Okazaki fragments?

DNA Polymerase III- I think
(I got ligase and polymerase mixed up- d'oh!)

20. You've got them mixed up
DNA Polymerase III does the leading strand, because it copies continuously until the entire strand is done; so DNA Polymerase I has to be used to do the Okazaki fragments and then have the gaps filled in using ligase.

(I'm studying for a biochem exam at the moment ;-))

24. I just had an exam
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 02:23 AM by fujiyama
in microbiology yesterday.

Fortunately it went well...then again for my major it wasn't too vital. Interesting class...and more interesting than a general bio class.

So how is molecular bio? Is it like a combinatation of Organic and Micro? Organic drove me nuts a while back and I ended up changing my major from Chemical Engineering to Electrical.

...that regulate cell growth and division. ;-)

-SM, Ph.D., who notes that once you complete your graduate school coursework and pass your oral exams you immediately forget silly details like which DNA Polymerase does what...

28. tubercle vs. tuberosity
Ok, not related... but more cool words.
My husband took human anatomy and physiology this semester.

Speaking of that class, here's a good tongue twister: lower motor neurons. If you say "lower motor neurons" really fast you'll sound like scooby doo.
