Whoa. This is like a real-life "Jaws" movie. |

Date of photo Dec. 15 2004 . . . A 4.2 metre great white shark leaps from the sea at the appropriately named Dangerous Reef off the northeast coast of Australia, 15 December 2004. A pair of great white sharks killed a teenage boy at crowded West Beach in Adelaide, 16 December, as his horrified friends looked on, in Australia's second fatal shark attack in five days. People who go piddling around in an ecosystem they don't comprehend, an ecosystem actively repellant to air-breathing life, an ecosystem where you can't see shit coming after you, shouldn't be surprised when dragons like that appear.
Not to say I don't feel for the family of this boy. I do...but it seems like the get it, and he did too...before he got it.

Now THAT's a phrase I never thought I'd see applied to an ocean.
I take it you never learned to swim?

The ocean is beautiful and awe-inspiring. But like everything else we humans touch, we crap all over it the minute we enter it.

Water is my only real fear - the thought of drowning petrifies me and drowning while looking down to see that I was in the mouth of something like this would be very frightening. As a matter of fact, I don't think I'd die of drowning and I don't think the shark would kill me either - I think I'd die of a massive coronary.
