So, when do you think the furniture delivery people will get here?

I'm having a chair that's been backordered forever (I got the matching couch a month ago), an area rug and a bookcase delivered today. The delivery window is supposedly 11 to 2 CST.

Think they'll make it?

1. They're not going to call, but they'll show up sometime late today.

That's what happened when I ordered my couch and chair this summer. I think they showed up about 5:30 (so much for "between 10 and noon"). :eyes:

Their notification system is all automated, so who actually knows if they've figured anything out...(the machine reading my address, semi-phonetically, was fascinating -- "We are delivering to <pause> OneTwo Sehhvin EightSix<pause> En Bar Tel Et Av-ay. Mil- wa-ooh-kay Why."

That's happened before, and you'd think it would be simple to track down a set of the little buggers (call the store, tell them what went missing, pick them up because you think they'd have hundreds of extras lying around for just this situation, right?). Nope.

That usually does the trick (heck, just using the restroom usually does the trick), especially with the "we'll be there sometime during business hours today" people.

I order a lot of photo equipment and the UPS guy won't leave the packages at my door without someone signing for it and they always manage to show up as soon as I get in the shower.

9. The automated system did call yesterday to say they'd be there within 30

minutes...I called and got a human and they said the computer dialer messed up, the truck wasn't coming to my house, and everything was set for today.

12. there's a furniture maker, Maitland-Smith, as I recall, and they

deliver your stuff in maybe a year. But they have really beautiful stuff with old-time workmanship

Tomorrow or Monday morning, depending on if they deliver on Sundays or not.

Actually, I think they'll deliver 2-5, but by being pessimistic I hope that will make the actual delivery seem early.
