Anyone up for some fractal art? (picture)
Artiste

This is the first public display of this work. It's an L-system fractal- a "flame".

Hey, work with me here. In some circles, this is high art! :headbang:

1. Fractal art is more than just recursion; it's also unique per artist.
Lovely work, that!

But I've got to ask, how did you do that background? :petty begging:

7. Trade secret, that...
I worked in Photoshop a long time to perfect that.

Actually, it's not that hard- render the fractal on a pure black background. Get it into Photoshop, select the black color using the Color Range tool, and then you're free to do anything you want to the black background. I typically color it then texturize it, then deselect and smooth the entire thing to my satisfaction.

Please note: there's a fractal art purist contingent that will try to convince you that tampering with a rendered fractal is worth damnation to ring nine of Dante's Inferno. Basically, I believe rendering the fractal is just the beginning- it's what happens next that turns it into "fractal ART".

10. The purists can make doggie balloons out of condoms for all I care.

Art is art. Sometimes external manipulation helps. Sometimes it's not necessary.

Art is about the person's manipulation of the tools. Not a strict adherence to a set of laws. That's fascism. O8)

11. Not my site.
it's Asha's. She just makes it and gives it away. She's very laid up with a bad back and other illnesses and making the art and seeing the server stats are therapy for her.

16. Cool
I thot maybe there was a dual pseudonym thing going on. My bad.

Fractal art is addicting. I should know- I've been doing it since Windows 3.1 was the best there is.

Untitled flame fractal. Kinda zen. I have quite a few free-flowing pieces in that vein.
