I bought gas today and forgot to pay for it.
But when I remembered, I went back tonight and paid them $20.

Just wanted to confess before church tomorrow. Anyone care to absolve me? O8)

1. As a paper preacher (ULC)
I absolve you, but only because you paid for the gas you got. Feel better? :-)

Wait a sec!?! Where the heck do you live that you can pump gas without prepaying?

9. Oh.
Um, forgive me, but I won't be moving back to a place where it snows anytime soon. But I hear you can get some good dairy there ;-)

I am sure the gas companies didn't miss anything.

8. No, but the kid on duty would have been short $20 from the till.
So the lady asked when I got it, and made a note to credit his drawer $20.

4. Nothing to confess... honest mistake.
I'm sure they appreciated you coming back and making good.

Honesty can be its own reward.

5. Rub-a-dub-dub. Thanks for the grub. Yay God.
Now, you are absolved and your sheets are whiter and brighter, to boot.

Thank you. I'll be here all week, and I will be healing lepers on Thursday.

7. It's a good thing you remembered
After all theey could have sent the cops after you.

What the person there say?

This is one of the few things where a credit card is somewhat useful for.

11. Thank God for small towns!
I think I forgot because I also got gas for the snow-thrower. The gas spilled, and I was wiping it up and put it in the car - then just went home.

I was, ah, somewhat "attitudinally challenged" this morning. Just fuming about my own personal anger, and totally forgot what I was doing. Didn't realize it until I was driving to Green Bay tonight. Went straight to the gas station when I got home.

14. Absolve You? How's about Praising you? Way to do the right thing!
Kudo's.

Forgetfulness isn't a sin.
Owning your mistakes and resolving them, when forgetting them would save embarrassment, is admireable.

15. Aw, shucks - you'd have done the same, I'm sure!

Honestly, I was SO EMBARASSED! I had visions of "Local Preacher Arrested for Gas Drive-Off" in the local paper!

But what surprised me is when the clerk told me "this kind of thing happens all the time. But thank you for your honesty - many people just don't come back."

Huh? Then why do they have security cameras there???

17. Because AlphaFemales value honor above all else.
nah - that's hindsight!

Actually, because I believe in the essential goodness and honesty of human beings (with the possible exception of "certain disengenuous republicans"). Or, at least, I see their potential to be that way. It kind of comes with the calling.

19. I did that once, but never did go back, because I'm an asshole
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=2246422&mesg_id=2246422

It's true! I'm an asshole! Will PItt is never wrong!

And I actually never did go back and pay for that gas because I was on a road trip and by the time I remembered it, I was probably four hours away, and couldn't possibly go back.

I felt guilty about it for quite a while. But not for THAT long because, well, I'm an asshole
