The Sweetest Thing-- worst. movie. ever.
Anyone else catch this piece of shit on Comedy Central for the last two hours? Horrible. Not that I'm offended by glory-hole humor and cock piercings caught on someone's tonsils (you only THINK i'm joking), but it was just a poorly poorly executed film. Not even worth seeing Christina Applegate and Cameron Diaz do near nude gyrations...

(so you ask-- Why the hell was I watching? A: My GF watched the movie while I sat next to her on the couch -- trolling DU on my laptop.)

1. It was pretty cheesy and just plain awful...
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Ugh.

2. It's worse if you see the
unedited version. They do this whole penis song in a restaurant that is so stupid....it's actually physically painful to watch.

11. the restaurant dick song...
Lol! I was flipping through the channels with my girlfriend last night and we came across this part! We just stared at it, dumbfounded... it made me feel personally embarassed for all of the actors and actresses in that scene, from Diaz down to the extras...

7. Best movie review site out there, I love RT. We even use it at the library
If it doesn't get at least 50%, we automatically exclude it.

I love the attitudes of the reviewers, too.

9. I was thinking about it.
I can't deny that the thought crossed my mind. Awful.

And, YES, that fucking penis song (Comedy Central showed the uncut edition) was inane. (too big to fit in here, too big to fit in *here*, too big to fit in HERE). How painful.

Not like Cameron Diaz was hard up for work in 2000 or 2001 (whenever filming took place). Christina Applegate, maybe.

6. Ya know, if done properly . . .
a cock piercing caught on someone's tonsils could be pretty damned funny.

I'm going to have to assume that it was not done properly in this movie

8. Confession: I paid to see it in the theatre!
At the time, it seemed like a good idea. The screenplay was written by Nancy Pimental (?) who replaced Jimmy Kimmel on "Win Ben Stein's Dignity" -- she seemed really smart and funny on the show, so I presumed "Sweetest Thing" might be, too. And Cameron was coming off of "Something About Mary" which had its really funny moments.

The shame... the movie was its own punishment.

10. It must be bad if it isn't even worth seeing Christina Applegate
:wow: :9

They promoted the hell out of that one too.

14. Wasn't there a thread about snooty film folk recently??
OK folks--

Chill. Have some dip. There are worse movies out there.

The English Patient...
Mulholland Drive...
Microcosmis...

Please have some perspective.

This movie didn't pretend to be anything but fluff.

The others *tried* to be important. Which is the greater offense?

In a world where movies like Soul Plane, Jackass, The Last American Virgin, and numerous slasher flicks come out...not to mention the completely egregious self-congratulatory type films (hello Oceans 12 I'm looking at you) you all decide to dogpile on this pile of cotton candy??

That's why film school folks are ridiculed and will be kicked off the life-boat in the end ;)

Personally, I had fun watching the film--didn't expect much and whatever laughs there were were pure gravy.
