9. Hitler was "Man of the Year" too.
Unfortunately, the general public assumes this "Man of the Year" thing is some kind of reward for excellence -- when it isn't. It's given by the Time editors to someone they think had a great impact on the news or society, for better or worse.

8. They're also polling to see if people agree with their decision.
Right now, the results are 59% think he shouldn't be man of the year, 41% think he should.

I'm sure you can guess how I voted. If they were choosing the worst person of the year, I might have agreed.

10. Worst person of the year COULD be man of the year
Person of the Year isn't a reward, it's recognition of the person who has had great impact on the world in the last year, for better or for worse. I don't think any of us can deny the impact Bush has had. We just happen to think he's god-awful.

And the rove spin machine will reinforce that view.

15. Here's a link to the MSNBC voting page.
Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3080261/

This is incredibly ironic and somewhat contradictory. Look at the "Past Voting results" directly below the current vote box. Most of those votes reflect issues that are all overwhelmingly negative against Shit-for-Brains. Just like the election. Everyting I would read put the asshole in a negative light but he still pulled it off. This is why I suspect a massive conspiracy in the election.

19. I can't really understand why people are flipping out over this
There's an incorrect consensus that being Time's Man of the Year is an honor. It isn't, not all the time. Hitler, Stalin, Manson and Khomeni have all been MOTR. Osama bin Laden was under consideration for the title not too long ago.

Becoming MOTR simply means you've had the largest influence in the world than anyone else. I'd say Bush fits that qualification perfectly.
