1. I can't wait either
I am exhausted. I hope I can even stay up to watch "Desperate Housewives" tonight. Last night I fell asleep on the couch - I don't even know when. These retail hours are a killer.

3. I remember it from the Three Stooges
Moe did it but he seemed to be tapping into something people knew at the time.

5. Three Stooges
I can't remember the word that set them off though. I think it was a city name.

Inch by inch...step by step...

The Stooges did it, Abbott & Costello did it...it's an old vaudeville routine.

10. Aha
I knew it didn't originate with the Stooges.
Well, it's still stupid, no matter where it originated.

9. Here>>>>
: : : It's from a Three Stooges movie, "Gents Without Cents" made in 1944. Curly says
"Niagra Falls" and Moe (who was under some sort of post-hypnotic suggestion? I don't
remember) turns on him and launches into the speech. (I dunno. Seemed funny when I was
a kid.) See www.imdb.com for good sources of movie quotes, trivia, etc.

12. Also in 1944, Abbott & Costello in "Lost in a Harem"
only when they did it in that film, they used "Pokomo" in place of "Niagara Falls."

13. Constantinople!
Memory insists that the original trigger word back in the vaudeville days was "Constantinople."

Of course, I only know this from seeing a recreation of the act on tv when I was a kid, but I'm still sure it predates the Three Stooges version.
