Sometimes I just miss NYC
the food, the accent, the subway ,Rockaway Beach, the streets. the 5th avenue bus, White castle hambutgers, potato Knishes. Any Du'rs fro Queens. I was born and raised in Jackson Heights. I have lived in CA since 67. "you can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take NY out of the boy."

1. I bet you don't miss the weather though
they're getting snow tonight and tomorrow the high is supposed to be only 20 with a wind chill below zero.

2. I'm in Riverdale but I love Queens.....

It's a different place now, though. Got to be THE most multicultural place on the planet... barring none. Especially Jackson Hgts. My son's Cambodian so I thought for a while that it would be a good place for him to grow up as everyone fits in ( I'm white).

Best part about Queens is proximity to the city but relatively bucolic atmosphere of most neighborhoods.

4. Jackson Heights and Elmhurst have made
National Geographic for having the most languages spoken in a single zip code (actually two). Sections are now a historical district and the number 7 line was dedicated as part of the national immigrant trail.

3. New York City rocks my world!
Thankfully, I live just three hours away in Eastern Connecticut, so making the City a day trip is always an option for me.
