It's almost Festivus; I'm airing my Grievances!
I'm sick of traveling to such ugly cities for work (St. Louis and Peoria, for example)

I'm sick of the Christian/anti-Christian flamefests in GD. Why do the Christians feel like they're a persecuted minority when the whole country is in a religious tizzy these days?

I really can't stand Christmas shopping. I generally love shopping but people are so damn rude at this time of year.

That' all I can think of right now-I'm tired. Feel free to add your grievances!

1. I stay away from GD for the most part.
If I might address one point: many, including myself, feel like Christians as a group are not well-represented by the " religious tizzy" going on. So I often feel like I need to represent my views as distinctly different when I feel like I'm being lumped in with them. I don't feel persecuted in the slightest. Just a little misunderstood and stereotyped. :)

6. I don't think Bushco & Bushies represent Christians
Christ was a progressive democrat. I just feel it by his teachings.

2. people trashing people who are "different' on this board
ie., the transgendered, goths, people with piercings and tats...etc..

I can understand any of the above not being somebody's "thing" but to make fucking snarky freeper comments is not what i would expect on a discussion board of supposed progressives.

3. Here are my grievances!
I've worked for the same training company for five-and-a-half years, I started as a "junior" course developer and am now Lead Instructional Designer and Project manager.

I make exactly $500 LESS a year than I did when I was hired!

My insurance just went up $100 a month!

We just hired 4 new executives at high salaries, so no holiday bonuses.

Mrs. McLargehuge is 8 months pregnant and can't sleep, so I can't sleep! Believe me, I am not unsympathetic to her condition, but does she HAVE to wake me up to tell me she can't sleep?

Home heating oil is $2 a gallon.

My in-laws are preparing their annual fundamentalist offensive on my Atheist household...

The hell with this, bring on the test of strength!

soon the new little one will come and no one will be sleeping for a while. ;)

when I was 8 months pregnant, my husb. had to build a platform for the futon, since I could no longer stand up easily to get out of bed! Hope you have a nice holiday!

47. Is this your first baby?
Then yes, you have to be awake just because she's awake.

Subsequent babies, she'll let you sleep, keep track of those nights, and tack them on to your share of baby duty after the little one arrives.

I am dreading going into the office this morning. the current windchill is 3 above! :scared: We only got a dusting of snow so far-but they got 5" out past 495.

Of course, it's supposed to warm up to near 50 on Wed. and Thurs.

16. Hi Kathy!
I'm also sick of hearing about how persecuted Christians are because some people say happy holidays. It's called being polite -- deal with it.

I have to spend Christmas at the in-laws and I hate it. Christmas there is an ode to consumption and I hate most of the crap MIL buys for us.

I hate the feeling that I will never have enough money. Every time I feel like I am getting ahead, something on the car breaks down or something. And we're in fairly good financial shape -- no CC debt -- yet the bills keep going up faster than my paycheck does.

I hate my job -- but thankfully I am leaving it for a new one after the first of the year.

I hate sending emails to people who never write back. Or calling people who don't call back.

But I LOVE Festivus -- a holiday for the rest of us.

REALLY sick of it.

And I'm sick of people hating the Cowboys. They had a MNF game that everyone was whining and bitching about because it would be boring, and that game turned out pretty good. Then last week some REALLY sucky teams played MNF - not a peep from the peanut gallery about it. Hmph.

22. Here are mine:
I'm so sick of my family implying that because we live modestly..w/o 24 hr cartoons...videogames and designer clothing that I am depriving my children!

I'm sick of employers who treat long time employees like just another line on a balance sheet!

I'm sick of christians claiming that we're ruining THEIR holiday...when they don't know that Xmas trees, santa, decorating w/ lights...heck even the feasting are all based on pre-christian traditions co-opted by the church as it spread across europe.

I'm sick of mergers and buyouts!

I'm sick of the lockstep media saying what good sign the christmas buying season is re the economy.

I'm sick of my husband leaving empty beer bottles on the coffee table...take them to the recycling bin, already!

Okay, feats of strength anyone?

- it was 9 this morning, going all the way up to 18 by this afternoon, with winds between 10 and 21 mph. Yay.

- Underfunded public transportation, and all the suburbanites who don't care. Well, we'll see if you care when no one will wait on you because all the people they bus out from the city can't get to work in your high-priced suburbs.

- credit card companies raising my interest rates because I missed a payment on ANOTHER card because I was on the road the whole month (yeah, I know, pay online...)

- people who think we're bringing "freedom" in Iraq, and that most of the Iraqis are delighted that we're there (my parents parish priest was selling that last night at dinner)

- (edit) sprained ankles on key receivers (get well soon, T.O.)

I was BORN in Peoria! And I used to live outside StLouis! If you want a really ugly city, go to Las Vegas-they have a corner on the purple neon market. The city looks like Walt Disney threw up on it.

Now where is the Festivus pole?

29. We have our ugly parts, and our pretty parts
I happen to live in a "Prettiest Painted Places in America" part:

The Lafayette Square neighborhood is among St. Louis' most picturesque areas. Named after the Revolutionary War hero who visited St. Louis in 1825, the Square surrounds beautiful Lafayette Park, an oasis of greenery within the urban landscape. The park, which dates from 1836, is the first public park west of the Mississippi River.

The stately 1870s and 1880s "painted ladies" that frame the square have been called the finest and largest collection of Victorian-era architecture in the country. The area has won the title of one of the "Prettiest Painted Places" in America.

I would also like to have a toasty warm house, is that too much to ask for?

I would also like a doggie, but landlords are evil!

And I'm also sick of reading about fucking Howard Dean. I can't even go into GD anymore.

But.... I love Christmastime! I don't care what anyone says! And I love Christmas shopping! So there :P

43. My grievance and I'm really pissed off
I have started a one woman campaign to convince Ben & Jerry's to bring back Festivas Ice Cream. They have condemned it to the dead flavor heap and cast aside all of the joys of the Festivas Season.

My daughter and I would race to the ice cream freezers right after Thanksgiving to see who would be first to find the first Festivas container of the season.

Alas, our season's happiness and joy has been sucked from us by those misguided Anti-festivas types in Vermont.

Woe, Woe, Woe to all who have once enjoyed the creamy gingerbready goodness that is no more.

Please join me in my campaign. Drop Ben & Jerry's a note to request the return of Festivas to it's rightful place in the December Ice Cream Line-up.
