Do you lose your willpower this time of year?
I swear I can't seem to turn down candy AT ALL! I usually resist but all these holiday sweets and snacks... you'd think I was TRYING to get fat!

And to make it worse, I'm getting lazy with the workout... only 2x last week and none so far this (well, I do have a cold - so that's my excuse this week).

Anyone else having this problem?

1. Hell yes
I have been eating everything in sight, and the lousy weather means I've only been out for a walk 4-5 times this week instead of every day.

I guess that's what New Year's resolutions are for, right?

10. Yes - dragging. Plus, I look at food and gain weight!
The EFX with the Clash blaring in my ears for 45 minutes four or five times a week sure does help!

I am determined not to gain weight this holiday season!

You've never had a lemon chess pie?

Oh they are SUBLIME!

edit: recipe I found :

Lemon Chess Pie
Country Cooking with Just A Spoonful of Sophistication - Phyllis Harper
Wimmer

1 9-inch pie shell, unbaked
4 whole eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup melted butter (or margarine)
1 1/2 tablespoons cornmeal
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
grated peel from 1 lemon
pinch salt
Beat eggs well; add sugar, butter, and meal, beating after each addition. Stir in lemon juice, grated peel, and salt. Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake in preheated 325° oven until firm, 30 to 35 minutes. Knife inserted in center will come out clean when pie is done.

Just doing my last set now.

Working out in the office is great. I just got back on the workout thing- I really missed running this morning (ice).

I got a Runner's World mag (and orange running tuke) over the weekend. That mag almost fires me up.

36. NO I do them throughout the day
I am just slowly getting back into it.

5 sets of 10 pushups
5 sets of 20 situps (don't count the first and last so really I do 22)

Eventually I will work up to 10 (I hope) sets.

Someday I hope to get back where I was oh 6 years ago.

These I do at home
5 sets of:

20-30 pushups
30 situps
5 "Diamond" pushups (hands together thumb and index fingers make a <> diamond)
30 crunches

I drink coffee and do a set each half hour while watching TV for 2 hours. The "Herschel Walker" workout-he has never lifted weights. I never looked like THAT (he does 1,000 pushups a day or something like that) but it will get you in shape.

I used to have a pullup bar and did 3-5 with my hands facing away and then towards me.

Once you get the system done a set only takes 5 minutes or so.

Thanks for the thread it got my refocused on my goal

39. I'm allowing myself treats - these are things we only have
this time of year, so I don't want to feel deprived.

I just make sure I'm making healthy choices also - whole grains, lean protein, salads and vegetables - so I'm not eating junk constantly.

And I've kept up my daily workouts.

But really - don't beat yourself up for indulging in seasonal treats, especially if you otherwise make good choices. You have to live a little, right?

One for the boss and his wife, one for a colleague and his wife, and another for the office to share.

I baked several varieties over the weekend. I'm still going to make Russian teacakes, eggnog logs, and some lingonberry-filled sugar cookies to overnight to my dad.

66. Of course - here you go -
These are my husband's and my favorites, so I have to wait until just before Christmas (in this case, probably Wednesday) to make them, or they'll be gone before Christmas! I make a double batch.

RUSSIAN TEACAKES

Mix together thoroughly:

1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Sift together and stir in:

2-1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt

Mix in: 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts work well)

Chill dough. Roll into 1-inch balls. Place 2½ inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake until set, but not brown. While still warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Cool. Roll in sugar again.

400 degree oven, 10 minutes

54. No. I don't want to feel bad and I know if
I indulge in sweets, etc. then I will get a cold or worse. So no, I'd rather be well than gain unneeded weight. Haven't had any sweets since before Thanksgiving, and then only the sugar in my coffee. (Is my halo straight?)

61. Wow ... sweets make you more susceptible to colds?
Well that explains why I was sick this weekend (still getting over it today - *sniff sniff*)

Kudos to you! :hi:

71. Yes! There's a BIG bowl of Hershey Kisses in our office...
And I'm wearing a path in the carpet going back and forth to grab more and more fistfuls of this poison. I need this like a snake needs legs.

And I can't stop! :scared:

73. Oooooh those are bad!
I've had EIGHT today! I'm forcing myself to avoid that area now.

:scared:
