Biggest damn pecker I ever saw, I tell you what!

This thing was HUGE! Bigger than most of the crows around here. It must've been peckin' ALL the right trees. I tried to take a picture, but he flew off when I opened my door.

1. Pileated woodpeckers are huge...
...like the size of eagles huge. We get a few around here at times.

16. Yes, they just don't realize that it's more about what the pecker pecks
and how well it pecks it than it is the size of the pecker itself.

After all, sometimes a smaller pecker can get to grubs that a larger pecker can't

5. You have stolen my post, curse your loins!
I posted this same picture with a comment regarding peckers earlier.

Did you think that I, with my finely tuned mental . . . . stuff, wouldn't notice?

15. Ive got two fo these several medium sized one and some small ones
pecking the hell out of a very big dead tree about 25 ft away from my new house. I meant to cut it down when we moved in, now Im afraid the peckers are gonna bring it down right on my roof...

They are cool though, seeing three different types of peckers at the same time is quite a treat as well.

19. Noisy little buggers..............they like to keep me awake.........
Day after day they hammered away at a tree in my front yard that was sick and damaged. The utility company fixed them and cut out all the bad parts of the tree. Figures I have an entire woods behind my house and they pick this one tree near my room.

I think we call them pecka-woods.
