When I was a kid our Christmas tradition was midnight mass, then take-out food over to my grandma's. Gram died over 20 years ago, but I can't go a Christmas eve without the warm memory. It'll be weird, but eventually the good things tide you over.

I've been there, gb. I lost my dad in 1991 and my mom in 1998. The holidays are rough at the start, but they do get better.

14. Freak outs a commin'!

Since my birth family is all gone it is less of a freak out. MY family all get along now that my mother is not here to put a damper on everyone else. Still, it gets to be a bit freaky with all the preparations.

Everyone gets socks here too! Underwear is for birthdays, a tradition I started when the boys both hit "big boy pants".

The solstice is upon us, and the Pagan tradition of Yule is about looking at personal excess (I have two of these, and I only need one), and giving the excess to those in the tribe who need. Christians opted our tree, and holiday, so we could accept them. And I do. God (and Goddess) bless us, everyone.
