1. Two feet is pushing it.
I've considered carrying a briefcase and umbrella just for the purpose of defining the limits, actually.

8. I used to have a friend
he was borderline autistic... he had NO sense of personal space. I swear he would walk up behind me and stand within 6" of me. I had to continually remind him that he was standing too close to me.

2. 2-3 feet

I don't like people to get right up in my face. Arms length at least is plenty close to carry on a conversation.

4. In the religious sense, like, in the Biblical sense?
Well, I don't know my sister that way, but, you know, I'll hug her and stuff. And my friends.

7. I'm generally pretty
Anti-social.

I don't mind my husband, kids or close friends around me. But everyone else needs to keep their distance. :D

I voted at least 3 feet.

10. Anything short of their hand in my pocket
is acceptable. You have to stand so close to other people in line here (NYC) that no one can cut in. It really is a regional thing. If you leave 24 inches between you and the next person, someone could innocently assume that you are not in line.

The question for subways is, if a stranger falls asleep on your shoulder, do you wake them up or let them get some shut eye?
