Help- I'm falling for a man a few years older than myself.
I'm a woman in my early 30's and a like a man a few years older than me. I feel so... so... uncool, standard, and boring. :(

I'm 32 and my preference is probably 37-45. Those young'uns are too much for me. :P

Which is fine with me. Not boring at all.

6. oh silly one
if you hadn't noticed, age has nothing at all to do with emotional maturity. I know a slew of uber successful men in their 50's with the emotional bodies of 2 year olds.

I've a friend who has a rule about always keeping involvements within a decade (older or younger). I'm not quite sure of her theory.

Since he was 22, my brother has been with a women ten years older than himself for 25 years. They seem totally happy but who the heck knows?

From what I recall, you've gone through a separation recently. After such occurances, many endure what is commonly known as "rebound hysteria" wherein we're attracted to people totally unlike ourselves in order to merely redefine ourselves. Others hook up with their soul mates immediately thereafter. Go figure. . .

Just trust your heart for now. Don't stress about age and be well and happy to savor that rush of potential for now. It's totally curative.

7. LOL
I guess you're helping me keep this in perspective! My last serious relationship was a man 5 years older than myself, & there's nothing wrong with normalcy.

I guess the folks saying to take your happiness where you find it, are right. :)

9. C'mon,
how much is a few years? Is he 40 years older than you or something? Hell, I think it's cool.

Hey, and where's your self-esteem, woman? No standard, uncool, boring person would even come to the lounge. :silly:

16. 7 and 1/2
Younger than the last one though.

I'm a bit standard and uncool, but not boring at all. I just keep seeing so many women out there going for younger guys that I feel so "typical" in comparison. Maybe it'll hit me later. Not sure.

21. That's not much of difference, imo.
The other women you refer to probably don't appreciate the same qualities. 'Typical' is a not a quality to aspire to anyway.

18. Help Me
Help me
I think I’m falling
In love again
When I get that crazy feeling, I know
I’m in trouble again
I’m in trouble
’cause you’re a rambler and a gambler
And a sweet-taiking-ladies man
And you love your lovin’
But not like you love your freedom

Help me
I think I’m falling
In love too fast
It’s got me hoping for the future
And worrying about the past
’cause I’ve seen some hot hot blazes
Come down to smoke and ash
We love our lovin’
But not like we love our freedom

Didn’t it feel good
We were sitting there talking
Or lying there not talking
Didn’t it feel good
You dance with the lady
With the hole in her stocking
Didn’t it feel good
Didn’t it feel good

Help me
I think I’m falling
In love with you
Are you going to let me go there by myself
That’s such a lonely thing to do
Both of us flirting around
Flirting and flirting
Hurting too
We love our lovin’
But not like we love our freedom

26. Yeah, I know I piss some people off.
There are those of whom I'm well aware think I'm something along the lines of "a shallow, vain, attention whore". People makes so many preconceived notions about a person from some one-dimensional standpoint or perhaps one facet of their personality pigeonholing them into that one-dimensional space. I am a part of my history and my life which makes me who I am and I know and appreciate where I am now (same with a few others who know me well or see my other sides).
I was talking to a female friend today who said to me, "You know, Sarah, if I had been through what you've been through in life (most of which I don't talk about here), I'd be drooling in a corner on meds." Well, not only am I not, I'm thriving (with the occasional bout of neurosis that I get through, but thriving nonetheless).

To all those who like to pigeonhole, I give a hearty

23. I'm married 20 years to a woman eleven years younger than I am.
She has taught me so much, and I love her more than ever. The difference in our ages is completely meaningless now.

My wife had the choice of a lot of men, but she chose me because I had the maturity to appreciate all of her, not just her looks. Keep that in mind.

Most men, including myself, were jerks when they were young. Like wine we get better with age.

25. If you're in love
you're in love. Period. The age difference isn't that great anyway. It's not like he's in his 60's or older. Not that there's anything wrong with that. 7.5 years ain't no big deal. If it truly is love then go with it. May we all be so fortunate to find love at least once in our lives.

28. ??what difference does it make??
I don't understand. If you like somebody what does it matter how old they are? My husband is almost 8 years older than me. We have a great relationship! I use to date a guy who was 7 years younger than me. My husband is a lot more fun and "young" than that guy ever was. Age doesn't matter--people do.

I agree, age is meaningless overall. :D
I think it's neat that women feel freer to be with much younger men (I just haven't met one personally that completely floats my boat). Society puts too much stigma on things that aren't anyone's business anyway.

... 7 years younger than me, and our marriage couldn't be better. Really :) I don't think age is that much of a factor. My brother married a woman 12 years older and they've been together 15 years.

Mold-conforming shouldn't impede your love life any more than mold-breaking should :)
