Anyone else out there that takes nothing? I take a multi-vitamin daily and that's it. I tend to think there's too much focus in western medicine on pharmaceuticals rather than wellness from a holistic sense in regards nutrition, exercise, and taking care of one's emotional well-being. (I admit. I do take ibuprofen 2 days a month though. ;))

10. And there's some here who |
|
do all those things and still have to take medication. I'm a non-smoking, exercising, not overweight vegetarian and I have high blood pressure and asthma. What do you recommend?
Although you do have a point, there's a certain smugness to your post. There's others here I'm sure that take as good (or better) care of themselves than you and may still be forced to rely on Western medicine. You make it sound as if we have failed if we do.

My daughter has mild asthma and sometimes needs her inhaler as well. I'm a nursing student. I work in medicine. I'm not anti-medicine. I just definitely believe in taking responsibility for lifestyle choice first and foremost. It sounds like you do as well.
Any "smugness" is probably from having intimately dealt with people who have abused prescriptive medicine instead of dealing with the wellness aspect first and foremost. I apologize if I came across that way. :)

No prescription coverage.
Probably wouldn't anyway.
Sometimes I think I'd like something for anxiety... but being anxious in today's world is probably a very sane response.
Sigh.

I rarely even take aspirin. NyQuil only when I have a bad cold (and that's rare indeed). The only medicine I have been prescribed since my childhood was antibiotics.
I don't even take vitamins... I try to get those through food when possible.
We're an overmedicated society, and Big Pharma reaps the benefits.

I drink 5 shots of espresso in the morning and take the occasional Tylenol for muscle ache and I smoke 1/2 pack of tobacco a day
that's it, no allergy meds, no chronic pain meds, no mood elevators, no booze, no THC
espresso water tobacco
boring huh?
