Just like the blurb on the box. Actually, it was pretty good. IMHO, Waters best since Crybaby.

Can't say I've been really fond of his output since then.

11. I love John Waters but not this one so much.
This is one of those movies that everybody loved but me. sort of like the Kevin Smith movie Dogma, i hated it but everybody else LOVED it. I guess it depends on my mood at the time...

13. that is my FAVORITE ONE!!!
I prefer the ones with Divine! I love the part when she kicks down the Christmas tree screaming FUCK YOU because she didnt get her cha cha heels. Pink Flamingos was funny too. I havent seen Desperate Living yet. I need to soon. I might like that one better than Female Trouble.

15. And those sick owners of the hair salon...
that just keep taking pictures of EVERYTHING!

HaHa! and what's with using tools in the bedroom? and the giant cage? And the woman who wants her boy to be gay? it's just too much! I absolutely love it. :)

Plus, it looks like they made it for a thousand bucks, but that adds to the flavour.

17. Edith Massey was the woman in the cage
She is so good in his other films too. She was the egg lady in the crib in Pink Flamingos and she had a funny role in Polyester too. John Waters met her in a gay bar in Baltimore where she was a bartendress. You need to see Pink Flamingos if you haven't yet. It was totally disgusting. Divine literally ate poodle shit in that one. She scooched down behind the poodle, waited for it to take a dump , then put it in her mouth for real. EWWWWWW. the other amazing thing about these movies is that they were made in the 70's.

18. Isn't it weird...
that films like those could be made in the 70s, but if they were made today it would be a MEGA-GIGANTIC-UBER-MASSIVE scandal.

I know they were baaaaaaaaarely released back then and reached a widespread & thin audience, but still. It's like we're going backwards. :(

21. well...as evidence of your theory
look at how tame Waters' movies became later on, particulary after Divine died. Even Hairspray, which had Divine in it, was pretty tame, almost cutsey, compared to those early films. I rarely like his movies anymore that he comes out with even though I will watch every one ( I didn't like Cecil B. Demented at all). I need to see his most current one. I can't even remember the name of it but it was released relatively recently.

23. LOL
I liked that one too. I liked it when Kathleen Turner was making obscene phone calls to Mink Stole (that is the name she uses) who just happened to play the role of Taffy, the daughter in Female Trouble, also. I kind of liked the one with Johnny Depp (another one from the 80's I think, maybe not) when I first saw it too. I forget the name of that one.
