A man was murdered in my building this weekend & the police said

The man was 40 years old, Jewish and gay. He was shot in the head twice and the killer has not been caught yet but they believe that the victim met him either at work or socially. Whoever it was he let into his apartment because the locks on the door were intact and nothing was stolen from the apartment. I wonder how the police knows that nothing was stolen out of the guys flat :shrug:

I feel sorry for his family, lover and his friends and I feel bad that he had to die like that.

My sisters childhood friend was murdered in front of her 5 year old son. The boy is 23 now and he is messed up pretty bad. The guy that stabbed and shot her was from the naval base and he is out of prison now. :scared:

Good behavior in jail is no indicator of how they will act outside. Take Arthur Shawcross, who killed 2 kids in the late 60s. He went to jail and was paroled 15 years later for good behavior (he was a model prisoner)and immediately went on a killing spree, eating flesh and raping corpses.

I google searched and it comes up and I will not post a link because it has my address in it.

The letter by the elevators tells about his life and what organizations that he belonged to. The newspaper calls him a bachelor and does not go into that much. Maybe they are leaving out some facts in the newspaper because they haven't caught the killer yet and most of the time police departments leave out facts in the paper for that reason.

They have an area for donations for his lover and where flowers should be sent.

The only thing I can find is a story about the recent arrest of someone who committed a stabbing murder of a gay man in Chicago back in November.

How long ago did this happen? Was it recent?

Does the story actually mention YOUR address, or just the block address of your BUILDING? And if there are elevators, I assume that dozens (perhaps hundreds) of people live in the building.

It sounds to me like your building is large enough (multiple elevators) and affluent enough (considering what you said about the victim) and secure enough (doorman) that this really shouldn't be of great concern to you.

And since you're obviously very particular about not revealing personal information, how could anyone deduce your exact address from the building address and your DU username? (Unless your real name is "Ginger Snaps" or "Ginger Something"... or unless you've revealed your real name online, and that's doubtful.)

Frankly there is only one other rational explanation why you're so hesitant to provide a link to the story you mention.

After reading the articles about his murder in several newspapers I believe I know who he was. He was always very nice and I hope that they find the killer or killers soon. I am hoping that killer doesn't live in our building. Maybe that is why the article is so short and doesn't mention as much as the letter in front of our elevators. :hug:

And considering the extreme lack of corroborative evidence... I'm left wondering if the events in this story even happened at all. It's just too fantastic a story NOT to have received more media coverage.

It's not like we're talking about a story that's 3 years old, and we're having trouble Googling any news stories. It's also not as if the story just happened 30 minutes ago, and we can't find stories. IF that were the case, then our inability to find online information would make sense.

What DOES NOT make sense is that this story happened last weekend... plenty of time for news stories to be written and to hit the local area news websites (if not national). None of the gay press web sites have picked this up (and they SCOUR the media for stories like this)... and it's just recent enough that the media wouldn't have lost interest yet and there would be at least one or two follow up stories.

The whole thing just doesn't pass my smell test.
