Poll question: What did you call the night before Halloween?
In NJ, it had different names in different towns. But wherever we lived, my older brother always put me in charge of "protecting the house", which meant arming me with the water hose and an arsenal of clear plastic balls taken from 25cent toy machines, filled with shaving cream and water, and with a hole punched in it -- shaving cream "grenades". Meanwhile, my brother and his friends would troll the town to create their own mischief.

3. That's the other name that I was trying to remember
I knew there was some other oft-used name, but I just couldn't remember what it was. But that was it.

10. Not a darned thing. But the day after
is All Saints Day. And the day after that is The Day of the Dead in many Catholic Hispanic cultures.

11. We didn't call it anything. I didn't realize until a couple of years ago
that there was anything special going on the night before Halloween. I'm from the Upper Midwest.
