Favorite X-Files episode? |
|
I haven't seen all of them, but I think my personal fave is the one where Peter Boyle plays the insurance guy who can see how you're going to die by touching you. Another favorite is the one with the carnival/Jim Rose freakshow people.
I like the shows best that stand alone as far as the story, and the ones that emphasize wry humor (which works the best with the Mulder character).
The lengthy alien/conspiracy story arcs are among my least favorite, I think all such things, like Twin Peaks, are weak because they are unable to live up to the hype generated, and the whole souffle must eventually collapse.
I just caught a bit of the one where Bruce Campbell plays the guy who was going to be the dad of the devil child, can't remember the twists of the story exactly but it was a good one.

although it was David Duchovny's least favorite. Its tied with the Peter Boyle episode. I also realy like the early ones with the Lone Gunmen, before they got too cute.

Best episode ever! featuring...Charles Nelson Reilly, Jesse Ventura, Alex Trebek, and "Lord Kimbote". They should have made it into a movie.

I can only imagine what they had to be smoking to dream up the plot for that one, but the resulting episode was really good.

I thought they did an excellent job, reminding people about how different the world was, back at the time of Roswell. Plus they revealed some interesting quirks about Mulder and Scully (though I still think it was farfetched that, growing up as a tomboy with multiple brothers, she wasn't familiar with baseball). But the story and acting were good enough to make me overlook that (and the fact that saguaro cacti don't grow in that location!). Nice social commentary.
I think Duchovny directed that particular episode, too.
Also, the one where Mulder switched bodies with a MIB (Michael McKean?) was pretty funny.

one with the vampire country sheriff. That one, with its two viewpoints shown, was hilarious.
But heck, lots of X-files were just wonderful.
Oh, and how could I forget Tunguska, the black oil one?? Very scary.

Loved the two viewpoints. But there was another episode I thought was really funny. What was the episode where Sculley and Mulder went to the small town where all of the characters looked like farm animals. And the local doctor had been experimenting with artificial insemination? That was a hoot.

My bad.
I really enjoyed Jose Chung's From Outer Space, the Xmas episode, and the one where David Duchovny took off all his close and just danced naked in front of the camera for an hour. But X-Files really jumped the shark when they added the laugh track.
