7. I think the B-side of Abbey Road comes damn close,
but doesn't quite hit the "One Continuous Song" mark. Still, it seems more unified to me than a pure-and-simple medly.

17. Ten Worst Concept Albums of All Time
Ten Worst Concept Albums of All Time
http://www.westword.com/issues/1996-11-28/music4.html
(four paragraph exceprt below, item #7 in the list, ELP Tarkus (1971)

7. Emerson, Lake and
Palmer Tarkus (1971)
First Bad Sign: The inside cover art spells out the gobbledygook story in eleven panels. Stylistically, it's a bad mix between Destroy All Monsters and the stations of the cross.

Concept: Rejected Transformer toy prototypes ravage the Earth to the sound of ripped-off Bach riffs played in weird time signatures. Tarkus, (half armadillo, half Sherman tank) battles Manticore (half lion, half scorpion with a human's head) and a combination pterodactyl/bomber plane. There is also a combo grasshopper and safari helmet that looks like a real pushover, even with the cruiser missiles.

Worst Moment: "Aquatarkus," when the hideous creature/artillery takes to the water and Keith Emerson gets to unload all his farting-in-the-bathtub Moog sounds.

Grand Finale: In an unrelated story, the album concludes with "Are You Ready, Eddie," an attempt by these lofty classical-music bandits to rip off something more current: Little Richard's "Ready Teddy." For two minutes and eight seconds, Greg Lake quizzes engineer Eddie Offord on whether he is indeed ready to shut down his sixteen-track recorder. Why couldn't he have done that 38 minutes and 56 seconds ago?

23. k d lang - "Drag"
I wouldn't call it "one long continuous song" but it is IMHO one of the best concept CD's of the 90's.

Amazon.com
Sensual, seductive, and above all smoky, the latest from k.d. lang is a collection of a dozen tunes that all have some connection to smoking--usually in the romantic, post-coital sense--done up in a lush, orchestrated fashion. Some of these tunes are standards, such as "Smoke Dreams" and "My Last Cigarette," while others are just plain strange selections given some of the oddest readings imaginable. Case in point: the cover of Steve Miller's "The Joker." lang's voice is an incredible instrument, and it's a treat to hear her vamping. But you have to wonder what she's up to, especially because she seems to just say no to tobacco herself, --Jim Derogatis

34. "Come Out" by Steve Reich
"Reich's text a very effective loop where the words "come out to show them" and then just "come out" are plucked from their original context and by repetition gain their own meaning of protest. Reich transforms the words from a statement of victimhood to a statement of protest. The words originate from a group of young african american men who were beat by the police in Harlem. One of them is describing how he was injured and wanted medical attnetion but wasn't visibly bleeding, so had to open is wound to allow some of "the bruise blood to come out to show them." The blog cited above points out that the piece was written as a fundraiser for the victims of the police brutality."

it seemed to take on new shapes as you get entranced in the loop, either he is layering more loops or the mind does it naturally.
I think you only hear "come out" after a while

Definitely a unique experience to hear.

Do you recall what the flipside was? I believe the album was yellow white and black and said Electronic Music on it.

31. The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus
by Spirit

Fav song on that one is "Mr. Skin"

I raise my head in a touchy situation
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
Yes, I make my bed in the heart of the nation
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
I know its a trait of human love to make all the people holler
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Send them looking out for their woman send them reaching out for their dollar
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
A, Hey, hey

Oh, I'm rolling flowing through the whole population
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
Oh, The high and the low born are my friends and relations
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
I can bring you pain I can bring you sudden pleasure
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Your life will only gain if your loves final measure
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na

Ah Mr. Mr. Skin, you know where you've been
Ah Mr. Mr. Skin, you know where you've been

45. "Pour Down Like Silver" by Richard & Linda Thompson
Perhaps it's not really "all one song"--but the contemplative mood of the album is all of a piece.

"Wheatstraw Suite" by the Dillards is another thematically related collection. It's a pioneering work of country rock that holds its own against any of Gram Parsons' work. However, Gram got all the glory. He partied with the Stones & OD'd young; the Dillards had a continuing role on the Andy Griffith show & some permutation of the group is still playing.

49. Why...
...do people insist on listing albums that consist of many songs united by a concept when the thread clearly stated "Albums Which Are One Long Continuous Song" Like Jethro Tull's Thick As A Brick?

And why do people keep listing individual songs that happen to be longer than the usual pop song but which are not one song that takes up an entire album?

Yes has never done an album that is one long continuous song. Neither has Rush. Neither has Pink Floyd. Jethro Tull has done it twice: "Thick As A Brick" and "A Passion Play."
