anyone remember the "Disneyland Memorial Orgy" poster? . . .
One of the original Mad Magazine illustrators, Wally Wood published this poster in The Realist, an underground newsletter, in 1967. An inside source at Disney told Realist editor Paul Krassner that the company chose not to sue to avoid drawing attention to what could ultimately be a losing battle. However, Disney was not so reluctant when an entrepreneur pirated the drawing and sold it as a black light poster. The blatantly commercial nature of the bootleg--as well as its potential to reach an audience far larger than the Realist--prompted Disney to file a lawsuit, which was ultimately settled out of court.

you can see the graphic here . . .

1. I remember seeing it in a store window in Philly c. 1970
I gotta say it freaked me a bit at the time. Even though I was used to underground comics, having Disney characters getting it on all over the landscape just seemed *wrong.*

The picture you link to doesn't seem as scandalous as I remember though. Is it possible that the original also spawned more over-the-top versions? Or am I just growing jaded in my old age?

3. ya know, I thought the same thing . . .
from what I remember (with the caveat that I was probably stoned at the time), the original was MUCH more graphic that this . . . lots of . . . er . . . excited male characters . . .
