Schwarzenegger Sued Over Mansion He Sold - He Hid A Mold Problem
<snip>

CALIFORNIA'S action star governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has been sued by a lawyer who claims that he lied about the state of a mouldy mansion he sold her for nearly $US8 million ($10.5 million).

Dispute ... Mr Schwarzenegger and his wife are being sued over claims of hidden defects on a property they sold / AFP

True Lies star Schwarzenegger and his Kennedy heiress wife Maria Shriver covered up the damage to the estate's pool and tennis court and hid a mould problem in the house's film screening room, the lawsuit alleged.

Lawyer Susan Loggans claims that the ultra-rich Schwarzeneggers minimised the damage to the house in the ritzy Los Angeles district of Pacific Palisades, which she bought from them in September.

The suit, filed Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this month, alleges that the first couple failed to disclose significant "construction defects" before the September 28 sale.

"Despite the fact the Schwarzeneggers had actual knowledge of the property defects, they chose not to provide such information in a complete and forthright manner," the suit claimed.

"Instead the Schwarzeneggers made vague and incomplete references to serious and hidden defects on the property for the purpose of disguising the real and serious defects they knew existed, the disclosure of which would either have changed the economics of the sale or defeated it entirely."

1. You're kidding. A Republican tried to screw somebody over?

2. Even though the estate was sold allegedly "as is", the purchaser is
protected against fraud, misrepresentation, deceit, and breach of habitability (mold is dangerous to health). Sort of a Lemon Law for homes.

Since the Gropenator has bragged about his experience as an investor in real estate for decades, he can hardly excuse himself with the cloak of ignorance. He knew or he should have known, and he should have made the information available.

On the other hand, the home inspector (assuming one was used) should have himself inspected by the authorities for missing such a defect.
