Mom: Toy Gun Utters Profanity
A toy gun has been pulled from a store's shelves after a St. Louis woman discovered the gun apparently utters profanity when the trigger is pulled, according to a Local 6 News report.

Kim Gaiter said she bought a Burp Blaster gun for her 2-year-old son, Rico, at a K-Mart in St. Louis.

However, when the toy gun is fired, instead of making a burping noise, it utters a profanity, according to the woman.

Gaiter said her son has been repeating the word everywhere that he goes, even in church.

5. I didn't know the troops were so kind as to force the guy to hide his ween
when posing for that photograph.

:eyes:

(those troops, actually. No space on subject line.)

2. What does it say?
Why would anyone buy a "burping" toy for a 2 year old in the first place?

3. I saw this last night
The gun supposedly utters the word "shit". The woman said something like: "My son might say it in church or in front of my mother and they will wonder what kind of mother I am that my child says the word "shit"". They bleeped out the word on TV, but I thought..boy..I wonder where they think your kid might have heard it...you just said it on national TV. LOL.

4. So, she's saying toy guns are obscene

;-)

Reminded me of this line from Apocalypse Now:
We train young men to drop fire on people. But their commanders won't allow them to write "f*ck" on their airplanes because it's obscene!

6. So let me get this straight...
She has no problem buying a burping GUN for a two year old, but she does have a problem if said gun says "shit".

I'd rather my kid say shit than run around with toy guns. Maybe that's just me.

7. A cautionary tale...
My aunt felt the same way. Her son (my cousin) is 10 months younger than me. As kids, we were never allowed to play with toy weapons at her house (of course we improvised...we were boys). My parents didn't go out of their way to encourage gunplay (pretend or otherwise) but they didn't make a big deal of it.

My cousin and I are now both about 37.

I'm the moderate, relative pacificistic Democratic air traffic controller.

My cousin is the ex Navy SEAL who's a diehard Republican, currently working in law enforcement.

Sometimes, plans backfire.

8. NOT just you, NGU. A toy GUN for a 2 year old? That's the disconnect
that boggles my mind. If the kid were to pretend to shoot and kill someone at church would she be embarrassed then? Probably not since the gun part of it wasn't a problem to her, just the swearing.
