What the hell happened to CSI?
Look away for a year or two and everything changes!

Was Grissom demoted?

Was ex stripper lady promoted?

What's with Grissom's beard covering his cute cute face? His hearing?

1. To sum it up-
That jerk supervisor guy on the day shift (Ecklee, I believe) busted everybody down a couple episodes back. Grisson had surgery last season to correct his hearing problem. As for the beard, no clue.

2. Here's the Lowdown
1. Grissom wasn't demoted, he was only in charge of one shift.

2. Katherine was put in charge of another shift.

3. The beard is a personal preference thing and he had the operation to correct his hearing disability.

The man in charge of the shift that Katherine took over was promoted to head the CSI unit, that's why all of the movement within the crime lab.

Was there some sort of romantic intrigue between Grissom and the young female investigator?

3. Yeah - I missed the episode where they all got split up.
WTF is up with that? x( I do not like it. This season has been okay, though -- but I prefer to watch the reruns on Spike.

4. They also are doing 4 crimes at a time/per show
SO each one is just a glimpse of the whole situation. I don't like that either.

5. It's politics.
Conrad Ecklie, who recently got promoted from day shift supervisor to head of the crimelab, is a slimy little deskjockey. He and Gil are complete opposites in their approach to their jobs, so naturally they can't stand each other.

Ecklie did a review of the night shift team, hoping to find something that he could use as an excuse to get Gil fired. He failed in this, so in retaliation he reassigned the rest of the team to the swing shift. This is especially bad for Catherine, who was applying for Ecklie's old job so she could spend more time with her daughter.

That was a couple of weeks ago; I've gotten behind in my watching, so I don't know what's happened since then.
