Help me spend my Wal-Mart gift certificate!
My grandmother gave me a $10 gift certificate to Wal-Mart for Christmas. Very nice of her indeed, but I haven't shopped there in a very long time, and refuse to. She's already given them money, though, so I want to find a way to use it somehow, but I don't want to feed the machine any more than I have to.

So, any suggestions from friendly DUers? I know it's a small amount, but I'd still like to do something productive with it.

By your grandmother. She probable had no idea your reasons for not patronizing Wally world,(I know you have the kind a heart not to have said anything to her-good for you, it was a gift given in love.)
NOW
How about give it to a womens shelter, group foster home, soup kitchen, or what ever charity you like that might need supplies.

7. Buy two items that equal about $7-8
They'll give you the remaining balance in cash. THEN (at another time) return the two items (make sure you have the reciept) and again they'll give you cash back  Then you can spend the $10 wherever you like.

I know that's a lotta trouble for $10, but I think it would work.

10. Okay buy something with it and immediately return it
take the cash and go get it in nickels and quarters. Go back and buy the same thing and dump the nickels and quarters on the register. They will end up losing money due to all the time spent selling then returning and then counting the $10.

18. Wait till 12/26 and buy clearanced seasonal
My store's employee committee gave everyone a $15 Wal-Mart gift card as a Christmas gift. I went over there, found some little snack food-type stuff that was marked down 75 percent, and bought $15 worth of it. Then I took it to my store and left it on the table in the breakroom for everyone to nibble on.

That $15 sale probably cost Wal-Mart $30.

23. Buy gas if they have a station out front.
You can save .03 cents a gallon with a gift card. As you drive off with your 4 gallons of gas you can be assured they lost money on you.

29. I never understood that..
When I lived in Los Angeles (and will very soon again), I never lived anywhere near a Wal-Mart, but I kept getting these. Tower, Sephora, anything like that I would *love*, but I always get Wal-Mart.

more goodies than what they allow for!

That's what I'd do.
