Any writers here ever suffer from writer's block?
Watched White Orleader yesterday and Sylvia,(the life of Sylvia Plath) today. Now am in a horrible funk. But interestingly enough, I am writing again today after a long drought.
Anyone else have a block and was moved toward writing again because of a book or movie?

1. Absolutely
I get writer's block all the time. I also get inspired by just about anything that touches me, whether it be through a book, movie, meeting people, etc.. What are you writing?

5. I don't know yet
I thought I was writing a poem, but it could be an essay. It is about my fear of living in this age. I was a newspaper reporter for about 15 years, got done, and now miss writing a lot.
I call it The New American.

I just jotted down a lot of thoughts today, something I haven't done in at least 10 years. They are too hookey to repeat here, but I felt great writing them.

Edited to add: oftentimes it's music that brings me out of it.

6. do research on the muses then start worshipping them!
Seriously I put up an altar that is dedicated to the muses, and everytime I get blocked creatively. I do some icense some offerings put on whatever music that is matching my mood and go from there.

Always keep your muse well lubed!!

10. I never really tried writting anything
except little poems until about a year and a half ago. I began a parody on the * misadministration set in a fictional old west territory. It started out sorta funny like an SNL skit but slid into darkness with folks trapped in an abandoned mine shaft and left to die (I got them rescued). It's still there if I want to go back to it - maybe later but not now.

12. I better not have writer's block tonight...
I have a final in about an hour. It's a film studies that is pure film analysis of a Hitchcock clip. Then I'm finally done! Whee!!!!

And it needs a whole lot of work...

I am the new American

I am afraid of standing still,
but frozen with fear,
of a danger I can't see clear, but know is near.
Daylight brings new frights,
along with new conflicts and fights.
My nights are frought with stifes
making me more afraid of life.
I want to go home, but I don't know the street
The unknown, a faint constant heartbeat
A throb, the same cadance, repeat and repeat.
I am the truth...

edited for the last line

14. Four fuckin' years.
It's almost killed me.

However, I heard an awesome album today and I actually wrote.

So I'm having the same experience today as you, but music was the catalyst for me.

16. I just got over a bout of writer's block
It was brought on by the end of a relationship, and once I moved past the post-breakup garbage, my pen began to flow again.
