Christmas Eve is boring, how do you feel?
There is nothing on TV worth watching except all religious programs and there is nothing on radio except all Christmas music. I usually fall asleep listening to talk stations, it is rough on Christmas Eve there is nothing for people who have no family available. Why are we always being forced to listen to Christmas music for over 24 hours straight?

1. Why do you hate America?
;)

I know how you feel. I'm alone for Christmas and the constant reminders of the holiday makes me depressed.

2. I try to find a movie I have wanted to see and save it for that evening
And I take me out to the movies and dinner - if you were jewish it would not be your holiday either - find and planning alternatives make it a better evening and day - also go to the store and buy some presents and have them wrapped for you and put them under a tree or in a pile to open on Christmas day - it is a special feeling to get presents you want from yourself

3. Because
Christmas, at this point, in its current form, is a forced holiday. We have people that think it's going to be taken away. I mean, that's one of those jumped-the-shark type moments. We're well beyond some birthday for the savior. It's about buying as much needless crap as you can. Bill O'Reilly and the rest are trying to go back to 1st season material. We've seen this episode before.

Treat it like any other day, just with no store's open, and a lot more room for yourself outside.

Go for a walk, and listen to winter. Don't just see it, you gotta hear it man. No, just kidding. But you get the point. It's just another twirl around the sun.

Use it to escape from TV and radio. Read a book or two instead of watching another rerun. Never too late to catch up on 1984, or Brave New World, or any other insane society. We live in one today.

Listen to your own music. Turn it up loud, the neighbors probably aren't there. No reason you have to listen to sappy Christmas songs if you don't want to.

You have a couple days that you can spend on yourself. Not always a bad thing.

5. According to my TV listings
there is actually very little Christmas programming on Christmas Eve. If you have cable, you can watch a movie.

Personally, I don't have time to be bored on Christmas Eve, because I've been ordered to provide baked goods for the next day's dinner, and then I have to go sing at the midnight service with my choir.

6. It used to be
But for the past 8 years, my best friend's family has brought me into their Christmas Eve Extravaganza - they do all of their opening of gifts on the 24th, with a big feast. It's lots of wine, food & presents. Even though I'm the last single person there (besides her mom), it's a great way to spend the evening.

8. That depressing yule log burning on TV is the epitome of
what goes on on this most boring day of the year. Damn thing burns and burns while they play dreary music. That's all that happens.

9. I love Christmas Eve
I actually like it better than Christmas. We spend it with my mom's family. It's totally relaxed and casual. Oddly enough, half the people I spend Christmas Eve with are Jewish. My own little tradition.
