Beware: No-boil lasagne noodles
I made a pan of lasagne yesterday - usually a once-a-year holiday treat, and thought I'd be smart and use the no-boil noodles. Egads! It's like having layers of glue in there. I've tried to get used to it, but I'm starting to think I should throw the whole thing out. No way I'm serving it to anybody.

I'm especially upset because I could eat lasagne until I pass out -- just not this stuff. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It was about $30 worth of fixings.

1. I've had no problem with the no-boil noodles
I don't really like them, although they seem to taste fine. I prefer taking the time to boil them, personally. If I'm going through the whole process of making lasagna, might as well boil.

5. Yes,
especially if you only make it as a holiday treat. No more shortcuts.

2. That is a total bitch and its happened to me before...Sorry...wish I could
help. I'm sure it can be done correctly, but I also wasted a shit-load of money, work, and ingredients because it sounded like a good idea.

Boil your lasagna noodles if you want good lasagne.

3. Well, dammit, good for you for using all those great . . .

Well, dammit, good for you for using all those great from-scratch-fixings! But for the no-pre-cook pasta.

Hhhhmmmmm . . . is it possible to replace the no-pre-cook pasta with regular pasta? By that I mean, can you take the lasagne apart and replace that gluey stuff w/ the good? Other than that there's not too much to do except chock it up to a great learning experience.

I'd wager you won't do it again!

7. good suggestion!
and no - never again. Not to mention the TIME that lasagne takes. And now, if I can scrape the noodles off, there goes another few hours reassembling!

9. Me too--never had a problem whatsoever.
I won't go back to the boil ahead kind, no way.

10. If your asking how to save what you already made you could...
Boil up some elbows or ziti. Scrap the lasagne fixing into the noodles, add more sauce and maybe some cheese and bake it, like baked ziti?? I don't know? You may be able to have a tasty dish and save the $30.00 worth of prefectly good fixing from being thrown out.

13. I thought about squirting more tomato sauce
between the layers and re-baking it the way it is -- but I think taking it apart and reassembling with the regular boiled noodles might work. Either way - it's another chunk of time but it's better than throwing it all out. It has to be lasagne though, it's a holiday tradition.

11. You don't need no-boil lasagna noodles
I buy regular lasagna noodles to make mine. It is always perfect. I've found that with the ricotta mix and tomato sauce there's plenty of moisture to cook the regular noodles.

12. I love the no boil noodles
There is one brand i forget the name but they are very thin and
rippled. I use alot of sauce when using the no boil noodles.
It sure is easier to make so i make it more often. I think i make
some pretty darn good lasagna.
I like to use real ricotta not the ones from the tubs.
and my top layer is a layer of hard boiled eggs. Delicious
it old world style.

14. Boil the damn noodles already!
The no boil noodles suck. You might get a good batch but when you get the real lasagna noodles, boil them and burn your hands for your art, the result is always good. Lasagna is a gift from the gods, too good a treat to let some chem-dried faux noodles screw up. Gives me agida just thinking about it.
