Right wing pundits like Bill O'Reilly have accused liberals of mounting an assault on Christmas. But the actual reason Christmas is de-emphasized in secular contexts has to do with Christian political activism, especially that of fundamentalists.
The faith that Jesus founded has become associated with jingoism and an assault on other people's rights. It's now risky to wish a non-Christian "Merry Christmas." Unless you know differently, you wish people "Happy Holidays."

I pretty much ignore it. This year I am kitty-sitting for my neighbours who went to visit THEIR families for the holidays, which will make it impossible for me to attend the Christ-fest some of my family enjoys.

3. Bill O'Reilly is the epitome of virtue and Christianity? |

His daily hate talk against liberals is disgusting. Especially considering his latest personal fiasco.
As far as I know, this rant against secular interests is nothing but show to draw viewers.
America is a diverse community and Happy Holidays addresses all, Merry Christmas is divisive and exclusive.
O'Reilly loves being a victim (self-imagined)
