Has anyone ever downloaded new movies off the internet?
Any suggestions?

And after I would, is it possible to burn them off the compuer using a regular dvd rom? Or do I need a dvd-RW? Sorry for being so stupid. This is all new to me and I don't know anyone who can help answer my questions.

I've got a cd burner but just a regular dvdrom...i bet this means i can't.

1. You can't do this anymore... very risky in many regards.
Mostly thanks to Big Brother:

And you'd need a DVD burner to watch on DVD player.

3. parasites leeching off the creative activity of others
The shutdown of the premier source for movies and TV downloads through BitTorrent was welcomed by MPAA anti-piracy chief John Malcolm, who has railed against "parasites leeching off the creative activity of others."

The ironing is delicious. It's not like the studios or record labels are "parasites leeching off the creative activity of others".

2. No. Nobody has ever done that.
Why on earth would you ask such a question?

6. Cause I did a search and there are all kinds of sites that offer this:
http://movies.channel.aol.com/dvdvideo/main.adp

this is one of them.
I just thought here must be a way to buy the movies and then copy them to disk or something like that.

4. I think you have to have a DVD
I think you have to have something like this:

HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B
TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B

The second one records.

10. Thank you--it gets more complicated all the time...
you would think they'd come up with one that plays/burns/copies both cds and dvds all in one. They probably do but it's probably not affordable or as plentiful yet.

5. You need a DVD writer.
Your equipment only burns CDs and reads DVDs. You are not missing out. The picture quality is not that good, you can really only watch downloaded stuff on a computer screen. So I have heard, I have never taken part in such illegal actions. And the posts here are correct, it is very risky.

7. Here's another website:
http://www.findmovies.org/aff/?a=wm11021

Is this not legal even if you pay for them?

15. Looks shady
You cannot buy movies that have not been released yet. It would appear that these people are pushing illegal copies. Your liability is probably low, the movie industry will likely go after the web site, and not it's customers. But you never know, I wouldn't take the risk.

They say 100% legal, give it time. If they are still there in 6 months, perhaps they have a loop hole.

8. Be very careful
This is the new target of the corporate lawyers. I download Anime which is legal. But we are very close to the movie DL Communities and they are being torn to peaces right now. They are taking no prisoners in this one. Servers are disappearing left and right.

12. And, trying to get movies off of the peer-to-peer apps is a colossal
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 01:59 AM by Cyndee_Lou_Who
waste of time. 99% of what is labeled "Spiderman 2" is porn and/or virus/trojan/malware/spyware ridden. Not worth the B.S.

14. Got hit by a virus yesterday
GF was downloading some videos and she got an oddly named Real vid (rm). She double clicked on it and all my alarm bells went off. I was able to fix it. But then thats what I do for a living (or did until recently).
