I've just remembered that I did a double take when I saw it the first time because it looked like a two pooper puppy :). It was obvious when I actually paid attention, but that first glance (and my twisted brain) have stuck with me :).

But don't consider myself "liberal". I think of myself as a moderate who sees that we need to balance out the rightward tilt of this country. If we were in different times, I would probably come out more conservative.

Stupid Test. Too many either/ors. Union Leaders or Business Executives? Dumb question. Unions have been corrupted by bad leadership just as corporations have. So, one shouldn't trust either too much. There was no choice for neither!
There are about 7 questions like that, so it's too discrete. The Professor

Seriously, how useful can a quiz be when there's no way to score to the right of Ronald Reagan or to the left of Jesse Jackson?

This question in particular pissed me off:
5. Where should government be cut? (pick as many as you want.)
Eliminate farm subsidies Eliminate subsidies to the arts Abolish public broadcasting Cut entitlement programs (Social Security, Medicaid, etc.) Cut defense spending Reduce welfare spending Reduce foreign aid Keep illegal immigrants from receiving public education Reduce environmental regulation Cut taxes Don't cut at all
Um, how about cutting CORPORATE welfare? Dumbasses.

27. I don't think this quiz is a good measurement at all |
|
I consider myself a progressive libertarian. My and most other people's views are a little more nuanced than a quiz like this takes into account.
Do I trust the government to solve problems? Impossible to give a yes or no answer to that.
Who do I trust more? Nobody, really.
Should the government regulate media? Generally, no, never.
Would I cut programs to balance the budget? Yeah. I would kill gratuitous military projects, most of the FCC, anti-drug and anti-sex propaganda and other abortive attempts at social and cultural engineering, and virtually anything that educated people would regard as a flagrant abuse of their tax dollars.
Is the federal government too big? Oh God yes. Under this administration in particular the bureaucracy has become bloated beyond reason.

Though some of those questions were more complex than their answers provided for. Such as the "the federal government is too big" one. I agree on a social issues level, not an economic level.
