Misunderestimator loves her xmas gift more than she loves me
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 11:06 AM by nothingshocksmeanymo
Of course, she won't be able to tear me away from mine as soon as I learn how to work it either.

We did the big ones last night since I wanted her to feel hers before we brought it home...I got her a classical guitar...shhh..while she's not looking I just want you guys to know it's so cool I almost kept it for myself...

She got me a 40 GB Ipod...I think she wanted me to use it in the car so I can get all those CD's out of there so she has room to sit...anyway...we're both having a blast..I'm giving her lessons and she'll show me how to work my IPOD when I get back from work.

3. Just how do you deceptively wrap a guitar?
I guess then it would make sense to give it to her early.
Mrs. Beast and I cannot keep secrets from each other. We end up opening half our gifts before Christmas anyway. :D

Sounds like a nice gitter.
Yes, our big gift this year was a bed, so that's a bit tough to wrap! It's the best present ever. I don't think I've slept this well in years...

23. I just checked with Best Buy and they have the converter
in stock and it's near here, so I guess we'll be all set later today. Bummer that it didn't come with. I did get the Mobile FM Transmitter though, so once we get some darn music on it, she can listen to it through any stereo, and we can clean out her car :).

28. Beefaroni!
No, not really. I'm just hoping Rabrrrrrr reads that and is appropriately aghast.

Thanks for asking! -

We're planning:

An amuse bouchee of tiny tarts, -Carmelised Mayan Sweets and Gruyere Cheese.

Deep Fried Tortelloni stuffed with sweet Dungeness crab and a pungent sweet and sour sauce for the appetiser.

The fish course is pan-smoked Canadian Lake Trout cakes with horseradish and mint.

We've worked a sorbet from cucumber, honeydew and lime to cleanse the palate before we bring out the red wines.

We're making individual Beef Wellingtons for the main course, with a cognac and green pepper corn demi-glace.

We'll serve blanched asparagus and olives in an herbed marinade, and fluffy, riced potatoes with Parmesan and mascarpone.

The desserts are a Chocolate hazelnut gateau with Frangelico Anglaise, and a chestnut and espresso sabayon.

We're still planning the salad and the breads, but we're leaning toward making small rosemary diamante ciabattas.

:hi:

25. My Wife Bought Me A Flute!
Got it this morning! I haven't played since i was in college. I had to take a music class to fulfill my humanities requirement, so i took a music class. The guy asked me what instrument i wanted to learn so i said flute, because i was a big Jethro Tull fan.

So, i learned to be pretty facile on it, but haven't had one since i had to return it at the end of the semester.

I had no idea. Good surprise! Have fun with your toys, ladies!

32. Aawww...ain't Christmas grand when you're in love?!
Bought my husband a beautiful African Djembe (with gorgeous hand carving around the side), and a set of signed/numbered black & white photos of Cuba (one of his big interests). And other little things, too, but those were the FUN things.

It's SO MUCH FUN watching the S.O. open & be excited about what you've picked out for them!!

All the best to you two!

34. LOL! We just ate there the other night.
I was very hesitant to move to Sonoma County until I could be assured that, in addition to all the fantastic wines and artisan cheeses and organic produce that they also had an In-n-Out and a Trader Joe's.

Certain things I just can't live without!

37. Yup, very close to Sebastopol.
It's almost overwhelming the number of organic and specialty markets there are here, especially if you love to cook (which I do).

And the wine...oh, man, the wine. I've become very Sonoma-centric lately, and have decided there's very little that Napa can out-do Sonoma on: Alexander Valley cabs, Dry Creek zins, and Russian River pinots and chards are all pretty damn hard to beat. We're headed up to Geyser Peak tomorrow (since we're both off for the day) to pick up some of their Kuimelis Vineyard Cab, Sandy Lane Vineyard zin and Ricci Vineyard chard. And a bottle of their tawny port, just in case we feel like sipping some by the fire tomorrow night.

If y'all are ever up this way....
