Anyone Else Off From Work Next Week? |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 11:10 AM by CO Liberal
My company skips all the "minor" holidays during the year (President's Day, Veteran's Day, Columbus Day, etc) and puts them all between Christmas and New Year's. We close at 2:00 this afternoon, and don't come back until January 4th.
Anyone else getting a holiday break?

2. Accorrding to AAR news this morning, most of HP is off for the week |

They're even cancelling janitorial service, etc. to discourage workaholics from working.

9. It Makes Sense From a Business Point of View |
|
The week between Christmas & New Year's is the most unproductive week of the year. Since many people take vacation time that week, it's hard to get work done if your job is dependant on getting information from other people.
Several companies I've worked for over the years simply gave up trying to get anything accomplished that week and shut down that week.

Don't ever retire. It's not all it's cracked up to be. Especially when you retire at 48.

...I get a lot done between C'mas and New Years. A lot of people take off that week so there are fewer interruptions.
Plus lots of people bring in their left over cookies.... :-)

I am snowed in my house and can't get to work, so I am home on unpaid leave until the snow and ice melt. My boss is none too pleased, even though this is the dead time of the year for our business. The business is in a town 50 miles away, and sometimes I think he doesn't believe that there can be a difference in the weather between the mountains where I live and the valley where he is.

My kid sister (who has only lived in NJ and Florida and has never been to Colorado) still can't understand that when she's watching a Bronco game asn sees it snowing like hell in Denver, it can be 50 degrees and sunny where I live 100 miles to the south.
