I'd like to be under the sea

In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.

We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave

We would sing and dance around
because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade

We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)

We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you.

I said I’m sittin’ here watchin’ matchbox hole in my clothes.
I said I’m sittin’ here watchin’ matchbox hole in my clothes.
I ain’t got no matches but I sure got a long way to go.

I’m an ol’ poor boy, and I’m a long way from home.
I’m an ol’ poor boy, and I’m a long way from home.
I’ll never be happy 'cause everything I’ve ever did was wrong.

Well, if you don’t want my peaches honey, please don’t shake my tree.
Well, if you don’t want my peaches honey, please don’t shake my tree.
I got news for you baby, leave me here in misery.

Well, let me be your little dog, till your big dog comes.
Well, let me be your little dog, till your big dog comes.
And when your big dog gets here, watch how your puppy dog runs.

I said I’m sittin’ here watchin’ matchbox hole in my clothes.
I said I’m sittin’ here watchin’ matchbox hole in my clothes.
I ain’t got no matches but I sure got a long way to go.

3. A lady that i know just came from columbia,

She smiled because i did not understand.
Then she held out some marijuana, ha ha!
She said it was the best in all the land.

And i said,
"no, no, no, no, i don't smoke it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

(ah-ah-aye-aye)

A woman that i know just came from majorca, spain,
She smiled because i did not understand. (parazzi! Parazzi!) (ole!)
Then she held out a ten pound bag of cocaine,
She said it was the finest in the land.

And i said,
"no, no, no, no, i don't sniff it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

(aye-aye-aye-aye)
(aye-aye-aye-aye)
(aye-aye-aye-aye)
(aye-aye-aye)

A man that i know just came from nashville, tennessee, oo, (oh no!)
He smiled because i did not understand.
Then he held out some moonshine whiskey, oh ho,
He said it was the best in all the land. (and he wasn't joking!!!)

And i said,
"no, no, no, no, i don't drink it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

Well, i said,
"no, no, no, no, i can't take it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

Hey yeh!

"i'll just have another drink, barman, have you got a large brandy?"

4. Hey ET A
Not to hijack thread, but thought of you last night. Watched the Grateful Dawg movie. Nice to see Jerry so happy in those latter years.

I think my fave tune was Jenny Jenkins.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread:

"Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe"

Now that's a good lyric for a Christmas song, IMO

:hi:

5. I haven't watched Grateful Dawg in a while

I've got a copy on DVD, maybe I'll watch it tonight :)

I don't recall if it's in the video, but I think my favorite that the two of them did was Shady Grove. . . or, on their first CD, The Thrill is Gone. Not a song you'd ever expect to hear mandolin on, but they pulled it off perfectly :)
