We just cancelled our Direct TV and TIVO.
WooHoo!!! I have a feeling the next few months in our home are going to be SO much more productive with no TV to watch.

2. Good for you!
We threw out the tv after the Clinton Impeachment hearings
and don't miss it one bit.
We do watch dvd's on our computer though.
Put on airamerica and get something done around the house.

3. TV killed itself a long time ago
I have a replay box (similar to Tivo) hooked up as a filter to pick out the few recongisable peaces of intelligence from the system. But for the most part I go overseas for my entertainment. They seem to respect the audience a bit more there.

4. I have the $13/month sub-basic cable they won't tell you about, but FCC

requires they offer (though they certainly won't tell you about it, unless you insist). But, I'm thinking of ending even that--hey that's almost a tank of gas, after all (and would be with all the taxes).

I have a tiny little color watchman tv that I could at least watch "Lost" on through its(gasp, how archaic) antenna! If I think about it, that's the only show I seem to look forward to lately. And, the network "news" with the Rove-enabled purge of Rather, just leaves me cold.

5. I don't miss it!
I get all my news online when I want. I rent DVDs for entertainment!

6. So much to do, so little time...

I'll finish knitting that damned hat I started last year.
I'll listen to oodles of groovy music.
I'll write letters to friends.
I'll clean the house!!! (6 animals, including 2 mastiffs and 2 kittens, in 900 sq feet... yeah, it's dirty!)
I'll drink sumptious wines and appreciate every moment.
I'll repaint the kitchen.
I'll bake cookies.
I'll dance around the living room when no one is watching.
I'll finish that business plan that is 6 months in the making.

I can't wait!!!!! We've been hooked on the box for way too long.

7. So, how about just turning it off?

8. We save 50 bucks a month by cancelling
as opposed to turning it off.

And I have very little self control. If it is there, I'll watch.

9. Ut oh. My brother just gave me a cable hookup for Christmas.
Oh what am I worried about. I have 3 jobs and an active personal life. I have to make an appointment just to go to the loo. I suspect I'll collect a hundred VCR tapes of shows I'm dying to watch and haven't the time.

10. Good for you!
We're keeping the satellite dish ourselves, though about the only thing we watch are old cartoons, sports, and something from the History/Learning/Discovery channel once in a great while. Otherwise it is a bunch of dreck.

I would go without it except that we have crappy antenna reception being out in the country.

11. I will miss Jon Stewart.
But most of it I can do without.
