I am sick of gays and lesbians acting like they are persecuted.
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 04:49 PM by LoZoccolo
If you are gay or lesbian and white, you have no absolutely no right to act like you are persecuted, because African Americans are more persecuted than you are.

NOTE: This entire post is sarcastic except for this warning. Please handle irony responsibly.

11. Kind of, yeah.
But I think I make a point.

I'm a Sicilian American. Proud of it too - my nickname is in Italian. I would never pretend that I face the kind of persecution that African Americans do in this country, but there are still some unfair things I face. One of them is as much as I get involved in politics, I will probably never as long as I live be able to run for public office due to peoples' fears about organized crime. Like I said, this isn't the worst, but it's still unfair. And I think people have a right to complain about anything unfair that happens to them no matter how much or little.

7. Whoa....
Nelly!! I'm Latino and gay but let's not forget that no matter what color you are--and being gay--we're all subjected to persecution whether it's displayed in a big way or done subtlely. Maybe some done more to one racial group than others but still we gays get shitted on every now and then. So don't play the race card baby. Being gay isn't easy to begin with--especially when we're surrounded by those "moral values" voters who supported the evil Chimpo and his regime. Whatever got you ticked baby--calm down now--and here's a Christmas hug and smooches for you. We've got to stand together luv. Peace baby!

8. No. In Ohio, 20% of African-Americans voted for Bush due to gay marriage
When African-American ministers stop denouncing gay rights and marriage, then we will all be in the same boat. I am sick and tired of clergy persons of any denomination or race favoring denying rights to people because of their sexual orientation.

17. Correct. The OH GOP used anti-gay marriage ban to win 20% of black vote
The Republicans paid for ads by African-Americans in OH denouncing the anti-gay marriage ban. These ads ran on radio stations that had a predominantly African-American audience. Some African-American ministers also encouraged their congregations to vote anti-gay -- i.e., anti-gay marriage and anti-Democrat. Guess what? It worked. Exit polls show that 20% of African-Americans in Ohio voted for Bush.

22. sorry...this is bull
no way in hell bush got a 10% increase in AA votes (compared to the national average) on this issue. see the black commentator.com for an explanation of why this lie (and others) keep floating around. it's a cover for the theft, imho.

was 15% in Missouri, and he only got like 3% in Mississiphi.

28. i have no doubt there are more conservative black people in conservative
parts of the country...stand to reason. i do take issue with the oft-repeated notion that black people are MORE homophobic than white people, for example. there is no way those 11 amendments could have passed without the support of white voters.

Those amendements would have passed because a majority of white voters supported them.
