We all know that Cloning Cats is greedy, selfish, shortsighted, stupid, spendthriftly, etc., etc., etc.
But let's say that I ran into a shitload of money...
and I donated $50,000 to a no-kill shelter...
then adopted four or five cats from the city pound so they wouldn't be euthanized...
then gave $50,000 to the Homeless...
and started a company to train Homeless People in the skills necessary to become not-homeless...
and even gave $50,000 to the cause of Children even though I'm not overly fond of Children...
after doing all of those things, would it then be okay to go get my favorite cat cloned?

1. I don't think there's much wrong |

with the woman who spent that money on a cat. It was her money, she didn't hurt anybody by doing it, it made her happy.
We know NOTHING about whether or not she spends the rest of her money generously or not, and in fact, it's none of our business.
Every one of us could find ways to use our time, money and energy for better purposes. In fact, while writing this post, I could be volunteering somewhere. But I'm not.
I think it's silly for people to get excited about what other people do with their resources, providing nobody's getting hurt along the way.
