2004 Was The Worst Year of My Life
Let's recap....
The state marshal shows up at my door 3 times
Wife divorces me
Parents go back on their word and do not sell me a house they promised
Parents evict me from that house
Parents file a motion to demand visitation with my kids through court
My, now ex-wife, goes on to have relationships while still living w/me
I get mad at my ex, break 2 computers, my toe, and lose a toe nail.
At my 2 year job anniversary they deny me a promotion
Everything but the motor goes bad on my car
I move to a place with carpets that smell of dog urine
I move to a town with piss poor schools for my kids
My dad turns starts to hang up on me when I call
Oh and he now turns his back when he sees me in person
I get hit while driving my car when someone tries to go in my lane
That made me late for work
I get reprimanded at work for being late more than 3 times in a month
I'm leaving out a lot of the details but you get the idea...

On a more positive note...let me get back to you on this one.

1. Hugs your way, bud
Things can only get better from here...

Just keep in mind this mantra "DENY THEM THEIR VICTORY"

Say that 100 times a day and you'll see what I mean...

OK? Hope things get better...

2. Shorter story, same theme
after 19 months unemployment I (Ph.D.) take job as clerk in produce dept of grocery store.

Transmission on car (ford escort wagon) fails while moving 1000 pounds of brocolli in July heat

bank denies renewel of my mortgage (3 year balloon on 78 acre farm) because job doesn't pay.

Required to run produce Dept when manager fired for sexual harassment but only get paid $6.90 for doing this.

Manager job goes to guy with 27 years experience with former owner of store, unfortunately 27 years didn't include knowing how to do simple arithmetic (new order from warehouse equals daily use minus on hand inventory)

I fired.

3. Been in a similar corner 15 years ago. Good news is, as you
survive it, move ahead, it becomes your source of strength. You measure your progress against it, your future setbacks will not be quite that bad....

He became symptomatic on November 17. He'll be dead in a couple of weeks. We got engaged on Christmas 1978.

12. echo buddhamama...
have found the same... find the sources of love and positive energy to try to keep you steady and fight off depression (which with the number of stressors mentioned would not be surprising)... sooner or later - the era passes and things have incrementally shifted into a completely different phase of life.

Best wishes getting through this period.

11. On the bright side -
Maybe you could write a country song and make a million bucks off it. You know, the old when life gives you lemons thing....

Seriously, I hope the new year treats you better.

20. It was the worst year of my life too
My husband and I separated, then he committed suicide. Two of my cats died. George W. Bush is going to be in the White House for four fucking more years.

However, on the bright side, I realized how many true friends I have and how many people stood by me and supported me when I thought I couldn't go on any longer. I discovered a new strength within myself, and through the tough times I've been given a new appreciation for what's good in life too. Best of all, I'm in love with a wonderful man who will be here in six short days. :)

I'm sorry for the sadness and difficulties you've all faced this year. I'm grateful for this community of friends here and for all the support we give one another. :grouphug:
