13. We're in our 2-3 weeks of real winter down here in
Las Cruces, NM.....right now at 5pm MST, it's 35, with a chill of about 20. We had snow showers this afternoon!!!!!!!....the clouds are hanging over the Organ Mtns.....and you can see the tops are covered with the white stuff. It will be stunning when the sun comes out.....But right now, it's feeling bitterly cold. High desert air can be brutally cold at night.

23. wind chills -25 to -30 tonight.
around -15 in actual temperature, but a 15 mph wind from the west -- northwest will make it seem like much colder.

this kind of night we could lose someone....homeless people or some poor sap who gets too drunk to make it home.

not a great holiday sentiment, huh? Sorry.

It IS supposed to warm up to +25 by Christmas Day and +30 by Sunday....

ohhhmuhgawd...I have the national weather service computer voice just telling me that in the northern part of this fine state temps will hit -20 or colder, and wind chills -40 or colder.
hang on!

temps to see what we would have inversely. Whatever MN has, so does IL, Iowa, Wi, etc. as there are no mountains blocking the polar air. The connection does seem to hold true.

Snow? SNOW????

Sometime between Sunday and Tuesday, we got a pile dumped on us. I have no idea how much, because it was blowing and drifting. But when the plow went by Tuesday a.m., there was about 3 feet of the stuff at the end of the driveway.

And just as I finished clearing it, the plow came back for a second, and third pass.

Now I just drive over the damned stuff.
