5. Well I am NOT a freeper
but I was the biggest teeny bopper Monkees fan ever. I just can't vote for The Clash. There is still a chance that Davy Jones will read my letter and write me back. He IS still cute you know.

6. What next? The Osmonds v. The Tubes?
Me, I'm with Fee and the kids.

Much as the Clash are great and get my vote, if you actually go back and listen to some of those Monkee tunes, they hold up remarkably well. That's because they used some amazing songwriters...

10. Sad to admit, but I've owned more Monkees albums.
C'mon, when they went psychedelic in the "Shorty Blackwell" period, they weren't so bad.

21. Put the bong DOWN!
Those of us who knew The Monkees before we picked UP the bong in the first place... :)

...know this is comparing Apples with Martian Kumquats.

I liked the Monkees...but I think I know only one song by The Clash.

Tastes vary.

22. There is no way one can compare the Clash with the Monkees,

when one considers the Monkees song "P.O. Box 9847".

Never has one song combined the struggle of the the individual in

as increasing homogeneous society, with the desperate desire to

share one's hopes and dreams with another without surrendering the

total oneness that defines us not only as individuals but as a part

of the rest of society and our place in it.

Here is a man who knows that total honesty will not gain him a

companion so he tries to embellish his qualities to, if not lie,

draw that general type of women who would find him if not

desirable, then at least tolerable.

26. Need to be album specific
For example, if it's "London Calling" vs "Headquarters" then the Clash is miles ahead. But if you put "Cut The Crap" up against "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, and Jones", it's pretty much a draw. In this case, both would be the work of fake bands.
