So on Wednesday I married.
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 09:32 PM by MaryBear
My heart feels full.
Calm and at peace
While a smile spreads
I feel more glad
Than could ever
have imagined.

That is so wonderful to see that kind of togetherness and happiness, may it last forever! And what a neat Christmas gift to each other, too.

I hope someday to have that experience myself. Although, since I'm almost forty and it's never happened, I'm beginning to doubt it. Maybe Mr. Right will be in the wheelchair next to me when the kid finally checks me into a nursing home 30-40 years from now, lol!

32. liberalhistorian, someone once told me
that my love was looking for me just as I was looking for him, and the trick would be recognizing each other when we passed by. When I met Jack, I was happily single and not feeling a need for anyone. Fortunately, I did some window shopping on-line and we connected there.

33. Oh, I'm sure that that's true,
and I firmly believe that you have to be secure and content with yourself and being single before you can have a successful relationship; singles who spend their lives sitting around and moping and weeping and wailing, and who make no effort to develop a good, fulfilling life because they think that their "real" life will only begin when they're married or paired up just drive me totally crazy.

Normally, I'm content being single. It's just that there are times when I get in "the singles blues mood" as I call it, and it's mostly during the holiday season. My upcoming 40th birthday doesn't really help, either.

61. Happiness is real.
Some people consciously build a friend family for celebrations. I have a very good long time friend who is single, no kids, and in her 50's. She has cats, a dog, friends, and happiness most times. I know another person who found happiness in an anti-depressant that allowed his fog of depression to clear. There is hope Lorien.

49. Thanks, Cally.
I've not posted much of late, you're right, and it's been for several reasons.

Among them are that I have found myself put off by the language used by quite a few new (?) posters. I don't know the ages (probably 53!) but the things written have struck me as very juvenile. I've not wanted to appear judgmental, or even feel judgmental, so I've been avoiding DU a bit.

I really care about many DU'ers -- hence my post here to share my news!

Also, the new forum structure is a little overwhelming for me. I didn't know where to post this other than the Lounge.

Are you still planning a get together?

67. Apache Wedding Prayer
Congratulations.

"Now you will feel no rain;
for each of you will be
shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold;
for each of you will be
warmth for the other.
Now there is no more loneliness;
for each of you will be
companion to the other.
Now you are two persons, but
there is only one life before you.
Go Now to your dwelling to
enter into the days of your
life together.
And may your days be good
and long on Earth."
