Why bother wrapping presents? All that shiny and pretty paper just goes to waste along with all of your time and effort.

That has been my theory. Why wrap, when all the hard work will only be ripped up in a matter of seconds.

I used to sew cloth bags to put presents in, but my family used the things after Christmas and never mailed them back. Now I just send stuff unwrapped, which upsets them because I just throw everything together and tell them to pick out what they want!

10. In my family we use gift bags, and being frugal Yankees

we use them over and over again until they fall apart.

But I come from a family of shredders. There's not much of the paper left.

14. My dad used to use the Sunday color comics...

...very festive, direct re-use, serves the purpose of concealing the gift and unwrapping fun.

I still do that sometimes, or find a cool photo from a magazine to use to wrap a small gift.

15. In the 70's -- it was a huge trend in my circle to wrap with the Comics...

...ya' know...the recycling thing.

Anything but plain brown paper.
