2. You sound like Pat Robertson
Anyway, I am figuring out where I am going to get a space-heater in the middle of Chicago, and I am also wearing two sweaters and two long sleeved shirts, lol.

I want to be in Fiji right now:cry:

Home Depot on North Ave is open 24 hours
They had lots of space heaters of various sizes and styles when I was there earlier.

I'm using one now, it sort of looks like a mini-radiator! :-)

16. I was just at North Ave earlier today!
Damn! I didn't even think of Home Depot. I do know exactly where that is though. I am going downstairs to ask my doorman if the maintanance dept. has one I can borrow until tommorow. I am an insomniac, but I don't want to go out right now. I live near the lake, so I think it is colder than it would be if I lived elsewhere in the city. I was in an apartment that had a direct view of the lake earlier today and it was honestly like a refrigerator. I don't know how I would survive in the winter like that. It wouldn't be worth the price to freeze in the winter.

Thanks for the suggestion!

11. You might want to consider this
Don't put a space heater in the middle of Chicago, put it in your home! You'll get warmer that way.

18. Wow...alot of Chicagoans here:)
Maybe we need to have a meet-up somewhere with a fireplace. A very warm fireplace. And Hot Cocoa. I would love to meet some Chicago DUers.

I feel like I am in that episode of the Simpsons where Homer burned down the house on the snowy day because he stayed home from church. Marge, Bart and Lisa were in the pew listening to Rev. Lovejoy talking about the "firey pits of hell" and coveting the warmth:D

20. There have been a few meet-ups in Chicago
unfortunately, I haven't made one yet. I'll meet up anywhere right now where I am covered in blankets and parkas. Or, with a beautiful, intelligent woman. Oops, maybe that's too much.

There does need to be another meet-up. Maybe I can start a thread on the Illinois forum and we can go from there.

26. Great. I'll be there.
On another note, I just went down to the basement of my building and it has to be like, 90 degrees down there. I want to go to sleep in the dryer:D. I fiddled with my heater vent so hopefully I will be nice and toasty soon.

22. Seriously!
It's freakin' freezing here. With the wind chill it feels like 8 degrees below zero! Maybe we can all pitch together and rent some type of enclosures that we can fill with JUST heating devices and live in. :scared:

14. When I got out of the car about 1/2 hour ago
the car said it was -2.

However, it's supposed to be in the mid-40's by next Wednesday! That's golfing weather!!! Man, I'm really lowering my standards to brave the elements to play golf.

13. We should stop calling it "global warming"...
Because that's technically not what it is. It's "global climate change". Now don't get me wrong, I'm not denying anything that's going on. But seriously, when much of the planet is seeing colder weather, it really doesn't fit the description anymore. True, a lot of the planet is getting warmer. Howz about we rethink about what's really going on and say that it's a global climate shift??

As I type this, it's 10 degrees below zero outside where I am, and I don't mean the windchill.
