How to Boil Water

It really doesn't matter if you watch the pot ... but turn away if it makes you feel better.

Ingredients:
water!

Steps:
1. Choose a pot that's large enough to hold the amount of water you want to boil, and has a lid that fits.

2. Remember that the pot might have to be bigger than you'd think if you're going to add food to the water. Without enough room in the pot, for example, rice or pasta will boil over.

Do *I* shake or do I shake the bottle of whatever? I always do it both ways to be sure.

7. Elementary physics:
for every shake you give a can, some part of you jiggles unflatteringly.

5. My favorite is in tips from other users part:
1. When taking a lid off a pot
Remember when taking a lid off a pot: open it away from you. You could suffer serious burns from the steam.

Really???? Although I guess if you have to look up how to boil water, you may need this tip!

8. similar to this warning on bottle of Dr. Pepper
"WARNING.. Contents under pressure. Cap may blow off causing eye or other serious injury. Point away from face and people, especially while opening."

Did you know Dr. Pepper was so dangerous?

Such as:

"Caution: The contents of this bottle should not be fed to fish." -- On a bottle of shampoo for dogs.

"For external use only!" -- On a curling iron.

19. or little girl...
but anyway...yeah, I've always assumed that most of these idiotic warnings came about due to lawsuits from imbeciles. The old CYA clause. Some of them look like the person who wrote it knows this hyper-legal-caution is bullshit.

10. I noted, however, that they gave no advice
on how to avoid overboiling the water -- something I've long had a problem with.

This is why I never try complicated dishes (like this) at home. Leave stuff like this it to the professionals -- they know what they're doing.

13. This is why we culinarily-impaired
will obviously have to content ourselves with ordering-out if we really want GOOD boiled water. Hey, I'm not proud. I know my limits.

(Is "culinarily-impaired" a word? Never mind; it is now...)

21. The sad thing is some people could use that.
Recently at work I smelled some smoke and ran in the next room to see what it was. There was smoke pouring from the microwave so I opened it and saw a bagel with black scorch marks. A really clueless man was standing nearby pouring a soda. I asked him why he put it in the microwave when there was a toaster nearby and he said he wanted it to cook faster. I noted that a toaster only takes a minute and asked how long it was in the microwave but he didn't have an answer.
